The spirit of goodwill : Happy Birthday
Hello everyone,
I was thinking of a general gesture of goodwill between two friends by saying a "Happy Birthday". Whats this wishing all about? Is it about wishing the person a happy birthday, or is it about remembering that person, and wishing him a happy birthday? Confused?
Well, imagine its your birthday. A friend calls you early in the morning and yells "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!:D" Naturally you feel very good. You feel an unbounded sense of goodwill towards that friend… Something that enforces eternal peace between you two… Now thats how real friendship should work…
Well, imagine its your birthday again. You call a friend by around evening to ask about a homework. And THATS when he/she remembers about your birthday, and he/she wished you "Happy Birthday!". Well, not bad, but still not that great a friend, to wish you a happy birthday when YOU called him or her.
Imagine its your birthday. Again same scenario as the one before. You call your friend. Still he doesnt wish you a happy birthday. He has forgotten all about your birthday. You go on blabbering until you come to the point that its your birthday. THEN he wishes you a happy birthday. Thats just forms sake! Ladies and Gentlemen, please recognize a flatterer at this point!
And the last case scenario. You call your friend. You tell its your birthday. And still she goes on blabbering about herself. Ok fine… Here what you should do - First, get a few GOOD STRONG swear words and throw it at her! Slam down the phone reciever and never call her again. Ladies and Gentlemen, please please please recognize a damn foe here! Well, cheer up, it could be worse…
By now you must be thinking why Im blabbering about all this idiotic stuff in a peace forum… Well, wishing a person a Happy Birthday is a sure way of promoting communal goodwill. And only with communal goodwill, can we attain world peace!
So everyone, please remember to wish everyone you know a happy birthday. And please dont be like the last case scenario mentioned above!
Ta ta.. Toodle…
