PART VIII : Self Peace

       Hello all,
After a long gap, here’s the last part of the “Eight days to Peace” series. And today, our topic is Self Peace.

Self Peace
The first thing required for World Peace, is self peace. Self Peace is the calmness of the inside mind. Meaning, the peace residing in your mind, body and subconscious mind. With such a peace, you are emotionally rested, and strong to face the world and its realities. Only by facing reality, will there be understanding, and by understanding, peace :) .

Take an example. A smile by a small kid, or a short laugh at a joke will give your mind a soothing feeling. A feeling of goodwill. A feeling which incites you to do something. But above all, a feeling which gives your mind peace, as the mind understands that you are cared for.

Thus, emotional, mind peace is obtained. But remember, as the Oracle told Neo in The Matrix, “know thyself“. With self understanding, comes self confidence. Speak to yourself often. Evaluate your good and bad. And boost your morale yourself. :) Its a technique I often use on the eve of an exam ;) :D!!!

Another method is Yoga, and meditation. Or indulge yourself in some activity that you find to your liking. Forget about the rest of the world. Bring in att-i-tude. And let your mind soar(don’t forget to come back to the ground ;) ).

With all these virtues, self peace comes automatically. And once you have obtained self peace, go for World Peace, and help this cause! Yeeeehaaaa! :D

Ladies and gentlemen, I hope to God that you have understood the meaning of this Eight Day series. And now, lets start practicing it! The least you can do is spread the word about www.blogforpeace.org among your friends, kith and kin. The most, there is no limit! So people, let’s get movin’ ! :D

The Blank Noise Project

       Hey all,
Here we have a *hot* issue. Its nothing to do with World Peace. But it seemed interesting. Its a movement started in India named “Blank Noise Project”. And they have a very interesting aim! To act against eve-teasers in the streets of India. :D

            To quote, from their blog,

Blank- that which is not allowed meaning, form or articulation.
Noise- that which heightens, builds itself.
Eve Teasing as the name suggests,is considered a joke, a prank.Eve
Teasing is street sexual harassment.
The project seeks to recognize eve teasing as a sexual crime and
establish the issue as something that may be normal, but is
unacceptable.
The Blank Noise project works both online and on the streets of
Bangalore, Mumbai , Delhi. We invite you to come along!

They hold regular meetings, and come up with innovative, and intimidating ideas on what to do with such communal-harming idiots! Eve teasing is a serious crime. And its growing like fungi on a piece of old bread! Anywhere you go, there will be couple of guys out there, scanning and observing every movement made by a pretty girl! ;) And sometimes, the actions get quite physical! Thats where Blank Noise Project comes. They intend to abolish eve-teasing from India, thereby making the nation safer for women. They intend to spread their wings, and establish the movement in every city of India. Maybe later they will spread abroad! :)

That’s all for now ladies and gentlemen. Hope that this post was informative! Oh, by the way, the Blank Noise Project blog can be viewed at http://www.blanknoiseproject.blogspot.com/  Support them, and enjoy ;D…Aloha for now :)

A “coloured” poem

       Hello all,
Sorry for the long gap between the two posts, but I was tied up with a few stuff. But Im back now :) And this time, I bring you another poem. This one was written by an african kid. Its something like the “Man with the Hoe”. A beautiful thought. A poem, asking, questioning, the masters of the world and the people all around, about why he was a downtrodden kid. Give it a thought…

Who is coloured?
When I born, I Black,
When I grow up, I Black,

When I go in Sun, I Black,
When I scared, I Black,
When I sick, I Black,
And when I die, I still black…

And you White fella,
When you born, you Pink,
When you grow up, you White,

When you go in Sun, you Red ,
When you cold, you Blue,
When you scared, you Yellow,
When you sick, you Green ,
And when you die, you Grey…
And you calling me Coloured ??

How was that dear reader? Touching. Questioning. Evoking a guilty spirit whithin… Please remember this wherever you go, whatever you do. Casteism was invented by God for a good cause, but not untouchability, nor racial discrimination. Please remember that…

PART VII : A common good

Good evening pal,
Welcome once again to the “Eight days for Peace” series. Today’s article : A common good. But before that, we interrupt this article for a special broadcast. I HATE SPAM! Back to the show…

A common Good
How do you feel when a person lights up your life? When someone paints the back of the community shelter? When someone plants flowers along the streets? Real Good. Right?

Ofcourse! When someone does something good for the community, you feel good for him ( that is unless you are a hard-brained extremist like Bush :P ). And you feel good when someone feels good for you… Then why not put 2 and 2 together. Do something thats good for the community, get a shower of goodwill, enjoy life! And in the process, enjoy peace!

I can give you an example of a person who did common good on a worldwide basis. But not many know him. He was featured in the Readers Digest a year ago. His name is Dave Irvine-Halliday. And what he did was, he brought light to the darkened. Didn’t catch me?

Well, Dave visited the mountains of Nepal, and was emotionally moved when he saw that most of the area was not in the power grid. Thus, he set out on a project of communal good. He made a simple light by using a bicycle and a powerful LED. His organization, named Light Up the World, now serve thousands of lightless all acoss the Indian Subcontinent and Peru. For more info, visit www.lightuptheworld.org

Dave is a perfect example for what this article conveys. I hope that all of you, in one way, or the other, will become a Dave in future…

Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you once again, for your time and patience. And please do become a Dave in different fields :D And this was the penultimate issue of the series… The next one will be the last. But it might be delayed for a week, because of pestering mosquito-like syndromes, commonly called Examinations :D So I’m going to be away for a week or so, adios till the next issue :)

PART VI : Discover Solidarity

    Hello all,
Welcome to PART VI of the “Eight Days to Peace” series. First, let me take this oppurtunity to thank all spammers who have visited this site, and very generously donated a huge chunk of all mail into my inbox, that when I checked my mail today, I had 9124 messages waiting for me. Thank you for your heartfelt( or script-felt in the case of spam bots ) generousity, but I would rather if you didn’t do it next time.

Returning to the series, today’s focus is “Rediscovering Solidarity”…

Rediscover Solidarity
For all those who do not know what solidarity is, it means a commonness in uniqueness and your ability to appreciate it. No, dont kick me yet :) It means that every person has a unique thing in him. This phenonmenon of uniqueness is common for all. And your ability to appreciate another person’s uniqueness is called solidarity. Or atleast, in the poetic way it is. :)

Discovering solidarity in yourself and others is an important factor, which leads to goodwill. And goodwill, unltimately leads to World Peace. So make it a habit to discover, appreciate and encourage another person’s uniqueness. Together, we can make this earth of ours, a better one…

Thank you once again for taking the time to read till the very end… :) I would like to acknowledge a fellow friend of mine, handled Jon, who helped me realise solidarity.. Thats all for now, adios, al vida, aloha until next time :D
