PART VII : A common good

Good evening pal,
Welcome once again to the “Eight days for Peace” series. Today’s article : A common good. But before that, we interrupt this article for a special broadcast. I HATE SPAM! Back to the show…

A common Good
How do you feel when a person lights up your life? When someone paints the back of the community shelter? When someone plants flowers along the streets? Real Good. Right?

Ofcourse! When someone does something good for the community, you feel good for him ( that is unless you are a hard-brained extremist like Bush :P ). And you feel good when someone feels good for you… Then why not put 2 and 2 together. Do something thats good for the community, get a shower of goodwill, enjoy life! And in the process, enjoy peace!

I can give you an example of a person who did common good on a worldwide basis. But not many know him. He was featured in the Readers Digest a year ago. His name is Dave Irvine-Halliday. And what he did was, he brought light to the darkened. Didn’t catch me?

Well, Dave visited the mountains of Nepal, and was emotionally moved when he saw that most of the area was not in the power grid. Thus, he set out on a project of communal good. He made a simple light by using a bicycle and a powerful LED. His organization, named Light Up the World, now serve thousands of lightless all acoss the Indian Subcontinent and Peru. For more info, visit www.lightuptheworld.org

Dave is a perfect example for what this article conveys. I hope that all of you, in one way, or the other, will become a Dave in future…

Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you once again, for your time and patience. And please do become a Dave in different fields :D And this was the penultimate issue of the series… The next one will be the last. But it might be delayed for a week, because of pestering mosquito-like syndromes, commonly called Examinations :D So I’m going to be away for a week or so, adios till the next issue :)
