Saddam executed today…
Hey all,
As you all might know, Saddam was executed today. Lots of controversy going on. It seems that India was not in support of this execution. Funnily enough, people are protesting only AFTER the execution…
So, I’m coming to purpose of this post… My views… I don’t like Saddam either, but I was, am, and will be, against the war on Iraq. That was absolutely unneccesary! Thousands were killed for the follies of one man - Saddam Hussein.
Anyway, I’m too bothered by all this hype. Its all just a bloody battle for a good headline… Cheers

Postie Patrol is back in action! PART 3!
Hey all,
The PayPerPost Postie Patrol is back in action, and this time, they hit the streets of Chicago in the freezing cold! Yep, there was Ted Murphy, as usual, and an HP guy named Michael, and they hit upon Robyn Nykaza in a mall for one of the most hilarious postie patrols I’ve ever seen(all three of them
).
They briefed Robyn, and her family, they got into a cab, and they hit dirt! Lol. Or rather, they hit the streets of Chicago on a hunt which seemed a never ever one…
And what was at stake? An HP camera+video gear, and an HP Photo printer! And ofcourse, $1000!!! Watch -
How was it dudes and gals? What was your personal favourite part? My favourite was where Ted stripped off his slacks to reveal a pair of shorts, and posed like a crazy punk, while Robyn took his pic
Hey Ted, you sure dont look the age you actually are
And ofcourse, while Robyn took a stranger’s autograph, Ted says “Caatfiiish” and does an on the spot catfish with a glass door
Boy oh Boy, wouldnt I LOVE to participate in a PPP Postie Patrol like this one! One of THE most HILARIOUS! Robyn, congrats… Ted, keep it up…
Oh, by the way, this post was sponsered by HP(as if I wouldn’t post it anyway if it werent sponsered
) Ofcourse, as we all know HP is one of the pioneers in Digital Photo Printing. Their digicams are cool, so are their printers…

New Year Resolutions… What the world is saying…
Hey all,
ACNielson, the world’s leading market research company had done a massive net survey on what the world resolving to do during the next year… And today, CNN IBN reported the results in a quite interesting post!

New Delhi: Guess what is the most popular resolution for the New Year among the Indians!
With less than few days to go before the
end of the year, over half (59 per cent) of the India’s online
population has already decided on their New Year’s resolutions, with 67
per cent of them promising to exercise more and 74 per cent planning a
better home/work balance, according to ACNielsen, the world’s leading
market research and information company. The ACNielsen Online Consumer Opinion
Survey, the largest half-yearly survey of its kind, was conducted in
late October/early November, surveying 25,408 Internet users in 46
countries from Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, the Baltics and
Middle East. The survey found Indian men to be more in
favour of having a New Year Resolution (60 per cent) as compared to
women (54 per cent). Another interesting finding that the research
shows is that people in India (74 per cent) surpass their Asia-Pacific
(61 per cent) counterparts in their desire to strike a better work-life
balance in the coming New Year, Sarang Panchal, Executive Director of
Customized Research at ACNielsen South Asia, said. The third most popular (50 per cent) resolution among Indians was to ’spend more time with the family’.
‘Exercise more’ is the most popular New
Year resolutions for Indians in their 50s (68 per cent) and it changes
to ’spend more time with family’ as soon as they cross 65 (70 per
cent). For younger generation in their 25s, ‘work-life balance’ is the
most sought-after New Year resolution (82 per cent). Over 67 per cent
of online Indian consumer under the age of 20 would like to ‘quit
smoking’ in the coming year.“People make New Year’s resolutions to
make up for the things they should have done but didn’t in the past
year,” says Panchal. “Judging by our survey findings, there is a strong
connection between the top three most popular New Year’s resolutions
among global consumers – ‘Exercise more, better work-life balance and
go on a diet’ – are all designed to set us on a path to a better and
healthier 2007.”Though there is always a common complaint
that New Year resolutions are hard to keep, most people participated in
the survey expect to keep it. In fact, over 99 per cent of Indians who
made a New Year’s resolution said they expect to stick to it.The Nielsen online survey, involving 25
408 web participants in 46 countries, also found many respondents who
wanted to lose weight and stop smoking in 2007, while 26 per cent were
planning to take up a new hobby. Here is a summery of the findings of the survey in some other parts of the world:-
New Zealand: Kiwis plan to
exercise more, achieve a better work-life balance and spend more time
with their families in 2007. In fact, 71 per cent of those surveyed
said the plan to exercise more. The next most popular resolution was to
achieve a better work/life balance (49 per cent), then spending more
time with family (29 per cent), taking up a new hobby (25 per cent) and
going on a diet (23 per cent). People were more worried about cutting
down or giving up smoking (18 per cent) than wanted to cut down or stop
drinking alcohol (8 per cent). More cryptically, 13 per cent of people
wanted to avoid disastrous personal relationships, while 10 per cent of
New Zealanders wanted to change jobs.United States: One in three US consumers — who have the highest rate of obesity in the developed world — planned to go on a diet.
“Consumers have realised a healthy
lifestyle is not about the latest celebrity diet or trendy exercise
fads, but is simply about having a balanced diet and lifestyle,”
ACNielsen Europe President Patrick Dodd said.South Africa: The most popular
single resolution in South Africa is to exercise more. Over 62 per cent
of respondents worldwide want to burn off the kilojoules and 51 per
cent want to achieve a better balance between work and personal life.
About 60 per cent of South Africans who took part in the survey had
considered or made New Year’s resolutions, and 54 per cent of them
thought that they would stick to them.Vietnam: Nine out of every 10
Vietnamese want to turn over a new leaf next year. In fact, Vietnam
topped the world with most people seeking a better work-life balance
(84 per cent), spending more time with family (54 per cent), avoiding
disastrous personal relationships (50 per cent) and a change of job (28
per cent).Thailand: Thais top the world with
most people planning to take up a new hobby (58 per cent) and cut down
on alcohol (18 per cent) in the New Year.
Its interesting to note the changes in the aptitude of people. Two years ago, people resolved to stop smoking, to work harder, and to promote peace. This year, they are resolving to exercising, better home/work balance, and spending more time with the family. Is our world becoming more selfish? Are we bothered so much about our own problems, that we don’t have time for the world?
Well, I hope that there are atleast a few people in our midst who think for the world. Apart from these selfish creatures who have eyes for no one but themselves, the world needs good people! Ladies and Gentlemen, lets join hands! Speak out, by emails, by comments, by scraps, by shouts, by calls, or by letters! Let me hear you speak! And let the world hear your ideas!

Ahoy! PayPerPost to acquire Performancing!
Hello all,
Shocking news just in! PayPerPost (PPP), the website which lets me, and a million others, get paid to blog, is going to acquire Performancing - the online blogging community, whose free products include Performancing Metrics, Performancing Community, Performancing FireFox(Firefox blogging toolbar), Performancing Partners and Performancing Exchange.
I’ve been using most of the Performancing features for over 8 months now, to run BlogForPeace. The Performancing FireFox extension is a special favourite of mine
But it seems like PPP isnt acquiring the plugin as such. The plugin is going to be spun off under a different brand.
I’ve also been using Peformancing Partners, but it was my tough luck, that I didn’t get any sponsors!
I’ve used Performancing Exchange in the past, and I’ve found it to be quite effective. Very useful in getting readers to your blog. And I mean true, genuinely interested readers. It was quite a good move by PPP to acquire this feature.
Aaaaand Performancing Metrics. The cool service which counted your visitors, no. of blog post reads, no. of comments etc etc etc. Another favourite of mine, and acquired by PPP…
See the news at - http://blog.payperpost.com/2006/12/payperpost-acquires-performancingcom.html
See the TechCrunch blog at - http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/12/27/payperpost-in-the-news-again/
I think that these acquisitions will help PPP soar to greater heights. I’m not very sure about the features though. I would have preferred if all the features were still under one name, under the same management. I wish PPP had acquired the whole of the Performancing network, and crew
Unfortunately, this hasn’t happened, and isnt likely to happen, so I resign myself to praying for the best…
This post was brought to you by PayPerPost… But that hasn’t in any way affected my views, or comments.
As I’m typing this post from Performancing FireFox, I hope to see better results coming out of the Performancing community and network. Meanwhile, PayPerPost is yet again basking in the glory of its triumph! So much is happening over what was to be a dull vacation…

Kalam’s views on IITians
Hello all,
The President Of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, has expressed his views on IITians not helping out their motherland.
Mumbai: The fresh young graduates
of the Indian Institutes of Technology are the toast of the engineering
world, both at home and abroad. They are India’s hottest export and it is
said that the IITs have produced more millionaires per capita than any
other undergraduate institution in the world. However, the elite IITian now finds himself in the dock, placed there by none other than the President of India himself.
At the IIT’s Global Convention held in
Mumbai last week, President APJ Abdul Kalam said, “The value addition
of IIT is very low for its students. The knowledge products and
intellectual properties added by IITians are minimal.”The President’s uncomfortable observations
about the IITian’s contribution to his country - or the lack of it -
brings into focus disturbing trends in the institute.Get a load of this:
- IIT-Bombay sees around 1,500
graduates every year, but it is estimated that over 50 per cent of them
go abroad to work, mostly to the United States.- There were an estimated 25,000 IIT alumni in the US in 2003. That number is expected to be higher now.
- A University of California study
found that 10 per cent of all start-ups in the Silicon Valley between
1995 and 1998 were by Indians, most of whom had come from the IIT
system. Not surprisingly, IITs are far from
forthcoming about the number of their alumni who go abroad to study and
work, even though the IIT clique knows that this is an open secret.Says an IIT alumnus and now the editor of Financial Express,
Sandipan Deb, “That is a failure of the Indian industry. You know all
these things and then you are hired to look after a boiler or
something. That is highly frustrating.”There’s no denying the country’s IITs have
almost single-handedly put India’s intellect on the global map, but
when the country’s President thinks it is sorely underrepresented on
the Indian one, it may be a reminder for the IITs to put their
achievements in perspective.
NEWS COURTESY : CNN IBN BLOG
Dr. Abdul Kalam’s message has been met with guilty silence among the IIT community. These very same views were expressed by me during late April 2006 - the reservations issue. Since no one was bothered to listen, I left the topic. I’m honoured to even think that Dr. Kalam thinks in the same way I do… Eventually atleast…
Lets hope for a radical change! India’s youth, what are we waiting for?

Iraq Study Group Report site…
Hello all,
A new site named “Iraq Study Books” has been launched. They are dedicated to collecting, and putting together, all Iraq Study Group Reports and selling it, in a single site. They have the latest title on, The Iraq Study Group Report.
The site itself promises to put up a bookshelf of entirely Iraq Study related books in the future, so it might be a good idea to bookmark it
It could be come the one stop shopping site for the world information junkee.
The site is dedicated to studing the causes, effects and potential solutions to the Iraq issue, so they are maintaining a neutral stand. I appreciate this view of theirs, ‘coz I don’t believe that the situation in Iraq can improve by a bunch of internet junkees shouting their heads off! ![]()
The site, on the personal side, promises not to email patrons except to confirm orders, and they also assure safe and a secure purchasing method. They are accepting all major forms of payment via Amazon, including Amazon Gift Certificates.
So if you’re searching for Iraq books, or a book on Iraq Study Group Report, head on to “Iraq Study Books”…
This post was sponsered by “Iraq Study Books”, but it did NOT in any way change/alter my views on the report, the site or this post.
Cheers
And happy holidays ![]()

POEM : The End and the Beginning by Wislawa Szmborska
Hello all,
I found a beatiful poem titled “The End and the Beginning” written by Wislawa Szmborska, a Polish poet, and the Nobel Prize for Literature winner of 1996. She died in 2002 at the age of 101. This poem moved me quite a bit, and I hope it moves you too. But before that, thanks to Waging Peace - Peace Poems Archive for archiving all these beautiful poems.
The End and the Beginning
After every war
someone has to clean up.
Things won’t
straighten themselves up, after all.
Someone has to push the rubble
to the sides of the road,
so the corpse-laden wagons
can pass.Someone has to get mired
in scum and ashes,
sofa-springs,
splintered glass,
and bloody rags.Someone must drag in a girder
to prop up a wall.
Someone must glaze a window,
rehang a door.Photogenic it’s not,
and takes years.
All the cameras have left
for another war.Again we’ll need bridges
and new railway stations.Sleeves will go ragged
from rolling them up.
Someone, broom in hand,
still recalls how it was.
Someone listens
and nods with unsevered head.
Yet others milling about
already find it dull. From behind the bush
sometimes someone still unearths
rust-eaten arguments
and carries them to the garbage pile. Those who knew
what was going on here
must give way to
those who know little.
And less than little.
And finally as little as nothing. In the grass which has overgrown
causes and effects,
someone must be stretched out,
blade of grass in his mouth,
gazing at the clouds.- Wislawa Szmborska
In this poem, Wislawa Szmborska portrays the emotions of people just after a war. She is sarcastically highlighting the effects, and consequences of a deadly war. I hope the poem is self-explanatory, but I found an inner meaning to the fashionable words. I’ll publish my views on a later date, but I would love to have your comments on this poem, and its views.

A politcally correct greeting…
Hello all,
I was browsing through the pages of YFMA Community (the hosting-provider of BlogForPeace) when I saw a member named Steve who decided to publish a politically correct seasons greeting.
I know, its a bit too late for a Merry Christmas, and a bit too early for a Happy New Year, but then the post is quite hilarious, and here it is

their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.I

The dream of HP photography…
Hey all,
Once up on a time, in a little city called Kochi, there lived a little guy who named his writing soul as “Neo Garfield.”
Lol… I’m talking about myself… Anyway, as Neo Garfield grew older, he found a new hobby. Photography…
Why is photography one of the most exemplary hobbies? Thats ‘coz the very thought of capturing Nature’s artwork is a profession worth a heaven of praise! Yes, photography is a divine hobby - one which gives immense pleasure, and allows the hobbyist to enjoy the finer things in life…
Ofcourse, as the 20th century drew to a close, there came a new era of photography, which called itself Digital Photography. Digital photography was photography using digital cameras(duh!). This eliminated the “cost” factor from photography, since there was no more need for films, or developing, or printing… All was digital, you could view the photos as soon as they were taken, print it in a matter of seconds, edit it, tweak it, mode it, etc etc etc.
And thats why, digital photography is a passion of mine. Yes ladies and gentlemen, it IS a passion of mine! I love photography! I just love the aspect of stalking after a butterfly, or travelling with my friends to snap a few beautiful photos. I love visiting the beach, or the marine drive to revel in nature’s beauty, and again snap a few photos
.
Ofcourse, all this is possible only with the best cameras at hand. A camera is like a car. It behaves perfectly in the hands of an expert. Only an expert can tweak our the best out of a camera - coaxing it to perform even better than the manufacterers would dream; just like a car. And just like a car, a bad camera and an expert photographer, will result in disaster. Thats why you should go to the Big 3 while buying a digital camera - just like the Big 3 in cars…
In the case of cars, the big 3 are Ford, GM, and Chrysler. In cameras, its Nikon, Canon, and HP. I personally love Canon. Its the most economic, but Canon does not have many service centres in India. Nikon has the best performance, but its way to rich for my hips. HP is good, its economic, and it has service centres all over the world!
And thats why, I would love to have a HP Digital Camera and a HP Photo Printer(hint! hint! Xmas is approaching!
). My Digicam is currently with my sister. So I havn’t had an oppurtunity to test my mad photography skills for quite some time…
Heh heh. I should quit whining here, but then I’m still dreaming of a digital camera which is very mine…
I would love to go out into the streets, and take sensational pictures of those things many people take for granted. We never stop to smell the roses, not because of lack of time, but mainly because we never realised that it was there!
So people, lets all take a time out this christmas… I have my own dreams, you have yours… Lets try to make them come true, and then realize those mundane things which go unnoticed by many…. Beck the halls with boughs of holly….
THIS POST WAS BROUGHT TO YOU BY HP - Hewlett Packard.

Honesty is not yet a lost act… Teen finds $24K and does the honesty game!
Hey all,
I found this quite inspiring article from NewsDay.
Imagine stumbling upon $24,000 cash. What would you do with the money?
The untraceable wad of $100 bills, rubber-banded together inside a
zippered bank pouch, tumbled unnoticed from the purse of RoseMarie
Limoncelli, 39, as she sat Friday inside the AMC Fantasy theater in
Rockville Centre.Christopher Montgomery, 19, found the money as he was cleaning between seats.
The Lynbrook student returned it. Every dollar.
“I was shocked,” Limoncelli said. “It’s so commendable to see a
teenager do something so wonderful for someone else. My life could have
been flipped upside down.”Montgomery, a liberal arts student at Nassau Community College, yesterday was reluctant to talk about his choice.
“He won’t come out; he’s not the type of kid that likes attention,”
said his mother, Donna Montgomery, 49, outside the family’s Lynbrook
home. “He said, ‘It’s no big deal.’ I think he’s embarrassed.”But for the Hewlett woman who nearly lost the $24,000, it was a very
big deal indeed. Before recovering the cash, Limoncelli endured what
amounted to a brief waking nightmare.Limoncelli runs a business, and like many this time of year, she’s been a bit harried lately.
“It’s the holidays and I’m running in all different directions and trying to do my shopping in between,” she said.
On Friday, she still hadn’t made it to the bank when it came time
to accompany her 8-year-old daughter, Sabrina, to see “Happy Feet” at
7:15 p.m.Halfway through the film, Sabrina climbed onto Limoncelli’s lap. To
make room for her daughter, Limoncelli slid the purse under her seat,
where it tipped over. The bank pouch must have fallen out in the dark,
she said.On the way home, mother and daughter stopped for ice cream. In line at
the cash register, pint of Häagen-Dazs in hand, Limoncelli made the the
blood-chilling discovery. The deposit bag was gone.“My heart stopped,” she said. “My whole body was shaking.”
Frantic, she called her husband at home. The money wasn’t there. She
dialed information for the movie theater’s number — and was apoplectic
when they placed her on hold.“It was like the longest two minutes of my life,” she said. “I screamed
at the operator when she tried to give me the address and I said, ‘I
don’t care, just give me the number!’ … I was hysterical, crying.”When she called the theater, Limoncelli experienced the holiday miracle she will likely recount for years to come.
After examining the cash, Christopher Montgomery had handed the pouch over to his manager.
Limoncelli said he refused a cash reward, but she hopes he’ll at least accept a gift certificate to P.C. Richard & Son.
“I always tell my kids, ‘I believe: a good deed — you do one, you get one in return,’” Donna Montgomery said.

Well ladies and gentlemen, what do you say? Whatever you might say, I’m quite inspired by this article and incident. The fact that honesty is not yet a lost integrity in Generation X is quite pretty
I really have to give it up for this guy, ‘coz not only did he show his honesty, but also opened the eyes of many a person around the world
Hatsoff to Christopher Montgomery!

Coupons Coupons Coupons!!! [Sponsered Post]
Hey all,
I was contacted by NCNatural’s Coupon Site to do a sponsered review about their site. Well, I was first not very interested, because I believed that most of these free coupon sites were nothing but fake…
But when I checked out the NCN’s Online Coupon codes site, I found that it was very interesting, and indeed, quite handy! They offer coupons from such a lot of online stores! The Coupons were offered for even global companies like Apple Store, Amazon, Adidas, Dell, Disney, Toshiba etc.
The site is updated every day, with coupons and offers from hundreds of merchants for products emerging from all over the world. If you’re wondering if this is a fake as well, nope, I checked it out, and the users DO save a lot of money using these coupons. And the best part is, unlike other coupon sites, NCN’s layout is simple, and easy to understand, enabling you to get the coupon of your choice quite directly.
An excerpt from their “About Us” page(it was quite interesting) -
We’re often asked,
“What’s up with you guys?”The fact is, we’re just a couple of folks
with a home page that ran amok. And, we love living in North Carolina.
We started NCNatural back about 1995 when the idealists among us believed
that information wanted to be free. We still believe that, so we try
to provide some of the best content for North Carolina nature that we’re
able to and try to cover our costs with a few book sales and some advertising
revenues. The fact is we lose money on every sale, but we make it up
in volume.
Well, anyway, thats about it… And my verdict -
Layout - 4/5
Simplicity - 4/5
Design - 2/5
Usability - 3/5
Customer Satisfaction - 3.5/5
Overall - 3/5
This review was sponsered by NCN, but my review is NOT affected or influenced by the financial help offered. Adios until next time

About Arguments… Are they a weak man’s weapon? Or have the world got it wrong?
Hello all,
A friend, named Shanu, contacted me via Orkut. I guess he is a BlogForPeace ex-reader
I found his blog quite interesting, thoughtful, and philosophical. Today, a particular thread caught my eye. Titled “Àrguments Are A Weak Man’s Weapon?” it discussed and portrayed why arguments are NOT a weak man’s weapon.
I truly agree with Shanu in this cause, since as he says, arguments are the tools of a rational man. An idiot, like in the case of politicians, use baseless arguments to support their baseless, powerhungry regimes. But a rational, thoughtful, and humane man uses arguments as his tool to making people understand the situation, or to clear up a misconception.

Shanu has portrayed most of my views on this issue, and so, I can’t say too much. But as he says, when a situation arises, where a minority is fighting tough against a majority of opinion, it turns out that the minority was right, and majority was wrong. Very evident and obvious in our daily lives. We see it happening all around us, and ofcourse, in course of time, we ourselves have been parts of such majorities and minorities!
Again, as Shanu has said, the winner of a debate is not a person who quoted many surveys and statistics (65% of all statistics are made up
) but the person who used the facts to portray his feel about the issue and make it etch an impact on the listeners’ minds.

In the play “Julius Caesar” by Shakespeare, we see that the croud is moved by the speech by Marc Antonius, when he used poetic and emotional techniques, rather than Brutus’s because Brutus spoke with facts, and in prose.
Shanu, I really HAVE to hand it to you for making a great article of the topic. Dear readers, Shanu’s article is damned interesting, and you might as well take a look at it - “Àrguments Are A Weak Man’s Weapon?“.
I quote from the end of Shanu’s article -
You may want to evade the very thought of arguing with a rational man
as he will tear you down to pieces. But you can’t evade the reality, you
can’t evade the facts. You may keep silence, may assert that you won’t
respond - no one responds when he doesn’t have a definite answer to the
question asked.You can’t argue with a fool.He will not listen.He may
get you into an argument exposing his stupidity, but the moment you take
your rationality out of your bag,you see him run.He knows it better
that he feels lousy and inferior infront of you arguments. Is that the
reason for the hatred of your arguments? You may say your
opponents words hurt ,you may say his words are cruel and
offensive.Yet,you can’t refute a single sentence of it.Such is the
nature of a rational argument. Is that why you call arguments a weak
man’s weapon?
Well, thats all for now ladies and gentlemen… Until next time, toodles
