Iraq Study Group Report site…

Hello all,
A new site named “Iraq Study Books” has been launched. They are dedicated to collecting, and putting together, all Iraq Study Group Reports and selling it, in a single site. They have the latest title on, The Iraq Study Group Report.

This is the book version of the much awaited “The Iraq Study Group Report”, which CAN be downloaded from the net, but ofcourse, we all know the importance of a book, and how long a book can last. And the book is quite low priced, at under $10 per copy, so price isnt a big factor here, and its a wonderful addition to any world-aware person’s bookshelf!

The site itself promises to put up a bookshelf of entirely Iraq Study related books in the future, so it might be a good idea to bookmark it ;) It could be come the one stop shopping site for the world information junkee.

The site is dedicated to studing the causes, effects and potential solutions to the Iraq issue, so they are maintaining a neutral stand. I appreciate this view of theirs, ‘coz I don’t believe that the situation in Iraq can improve by a bunch of internet junkees shouting their heads off! :D
The site, on the personal side, promises not to email patrons except to confirm orders, and they also assure safe and a secure purchasing method. They are accepting all major forms of payment via Amazon, including Amazon Gift Certificates.

So if you’re searching for Iraq books, or a book on Iraq Study Group Report, head on to “Iraq Study Books”…

This post was sponsered by “Iraq Study Books”, but it did NOT in any way change/alter my views on the report, the site or this post.
Cheers :) And happy holidays :)

POEM : The End and the Beginning by Wislawa Szmborska

Hello all,
I found a beatiful poem titled “The End and the Beginning” written by Wislawa Szmborska, a Polish poet, and the Nobel Prize for Literature winner of 1996. She died in 2002 at the age of 101. This poem moved me quite a bit, and I hope it moves you too. But before that, thanks to Waging Peace - Peace Poems Archive for archiving all these beautiful poems.

The End and the Beginning

After every war
someone has to clean up.
Things won’t
straighten themselves up, after all.
Someone has to push the rubble
to the sides of the road,
so the corpse-laden wagons
can pass.

Someone has to get mired
in scum and ashes,
sofa-springs,
splintered glass,
and bloody rags.

Someone must drag in a girder
to prop up a wall.
Someone must glaze a window,
rehang a door.

Photogenic it’s not,
and takes years.
All the cameras have left
for another war.

Again we’ll need bridges
and new railway stations.

Sleeves will go ragged
from rolling them up.
Someone, broom in hand,
still recalls how it was.
Someone listens
and nods with unsevered head.
Yet others milling about
already find it dull.

From behind the bush
sometimes someone still unearths
rust-eaten arguments
and carries them to the garbage pile.

Those who knew
what was going on here
must give way to
those who know little.
And less than little.
And finally as little as nothing.

In the grass which has overgrown
causes and effects,
someone must be stretched out,
blade of grass in his mouth,
gazing at the clouds.

       - Wislawa Szmborska

In this poem, Wislawa Szmborska portrays the emotions of people just after a war. She is sarcastically highlighting the effects, and consequences of a deadly war. I hope the poem is self-explanatory, but I found an inner meaning to the fashionable words. I’ll publish my views on a later date, but I would love to have your comments on this poem, and its views. :)

A politcally correct greeting…

Hello all,
I was browsing through the pages of YFMA Community (the hosting-provider of BlogForPeace) when I saw a member named Steve who decided to publish a politically correct seasons greeting.

I know, its a bit too late for a Merry Christmas, and a bit too early for a Happy New Year, but then the post is quite hilarious, and here it is :)

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes
for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress,
non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice
holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the
religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice, with respect
for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others or
their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I
also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and
medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar
year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of
other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Britain
great. This is not to imply that Britain is necessarily greater than
any other country.

These wishes are sent without regard to
the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or
sexual preference or orientation of the recipient.

By accepting these greetings you are agreeing to the following terms:

This
greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely
transferable with no alteration to the original greeting without the
express written permission of the issuer. It implies no promise by the
wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself or himself
or others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the
sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as
expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of
one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting,
whichever comes first. All warranties, either written or implied, are
limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the
sole discretion of the wisher.

    Lol :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
    Read the entire conversation HERE.
Cheers, and a happy new year ;)
