    This just in from Digg. A friend of the Digger “Tapper” was checking out old ATV trails by his parent’s house in Circleville, Utah, when he was dumbfounded by this great incident…

    Check it out… Its a cruise missile flying right over! You can even see its contrail! Interesting isnt it?

What is Bollywood?

Hey all,
    People keep asking me “What is bollywood?”… Or they say, “You’re from India? Cool, then you might know about Bollywood? Is it a great place?”… People read blogs like desi baba, come out here, and ask, What is Bollywood?

    Let me get it out loud and clear - Bollywood is the nickname for the Indian film industry. When combined with other Indian film industries (Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada), it is considered to be the largest in the world .

 

    Bollywood is massive. It makes up to 800 films a year - twice as many as Hollywood and about 14 million Indian people go to the cinema everyday terms of number of films produced, and maybe also the number of tickets sold.

    The term Bollywood was created by conflating Bombay (the city now called Mumbai) and Hollywood (the famous center of the United States film industry).

    The plots in Bollywood are often melodramatic. They frequently employ formulaic ingredients such as star-crossed lovers, corrupt politicians, twins separated at birth, conniving villains, angry parents, courtesans with hearts of gold, dramatic reversals of fortune, and convenient coincidences. The films will have many emotional songs, including vigorous dancing scenes. During emotionally exciting scenes, happy or sad, you can expect a song and a dance ;)

What makes Bollywood films unusual?



Bollywood films are really colourful and crammed with singing, dancing, loads of costume changes.

The also used to stick to a formula of boy meets girl, they fall in love and they struggle for family approval.

There’s also always a hero, a heroine, a vamp and a comedy sidekick.

Romance is big but there’s no snogging!

    So you’ve heard of Tom Cruise and Shwarzanegger, who’re those in Bollywood? Bollywood has very many actors and actresses. Amitabh Bacchan (Big B), Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bacchan (Junior B), Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Vivek Oberoi etc are the major actors. Major actresses are Aishwarya Rai (Miss World for some year), Rani Mukherjee, Kajol, Preeti Zinta, and very many more…

    So where can you know more about Bollywood or read reviews etc? Bollywood reviewers like desi baba are always worth a check out. You can also read reviews or read more about Bollywood in the various News channels like CNN, BBC etc.

    So if you’re interested, its a huge ocean of movies every year! Keeeep tuning ;)
