The Do-Follow campaign…
Hello all,
Among the bloggers, theres been a big hype about a particular Wordpress plugin called Do-Follow. Its something to do with how links are referred to, and how search engines follow up links.
All my blogs use Do Follow, and I’m a supporter of the plugin. But suddenly, there began an I Follow movement to unite all bloggers who use the plugin.
And my friend Colleen, over at Geeky Speaky, started up a list. She called it the D-List, and it was supposed to go all over the net, indexing all those who used Do Follow plugins.
I got tagged today by a fellow postie at Priori Incantatem (a Harry Potter blog), so here I am following the tradition.
***Begin to copy here***1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.
2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.
3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.
4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW us using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the “My Adds” section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going!
5. Leave relevant comments on the blogs listed and get a link back to your site thanks to Do Follow!

Hi, I have moved from opinionated Voice to Radical Muslim so please update your link if neccessary, and keep in touch too.
I love do follow and I have it on all my blogs. Helps me to find new interesting blogs too!
The plugin is a fine idea and I installed it. My mistake was having my name added to one of these do follow lists. It has brought me nothing but human spam over the last few days. I have had a total of 7 people post on blog and I knew they would never be back. All of them except one did at least take the time to right meaningful posts and their sites were updated and obviously cared for so it didn’t bother me too much. But today I got the spam we all knew was coming. The porn and the get rich quick sites with lots of google ads and content lifted from other sites.I have a google page rank of 5 that I earned and well others need to earn theirs too.I turned the plugin off and asked to have my name removed. I suspect others will follow soon as well.
I think the do-follow plugin is great. You get worried about the spam, but that is why you have anti-spam filters and plugins. I have to say that we also have an obligation to screen what comes into your site. I think with this power comes responsibility to steal a Spiderman line.
