Give peace a chance - John Lennon
Hi all,
I came across this video of John Lennon singing a song named “Give peace a chance”. What enthralled me was that I had written a poem about a year back with the same name…
So heres the song (no, its not my poem
) but still a good one to hear and get inspired…

ICC Cricket World Cup begins on a positive note…
Hello all,
The International Cricket Council World Cup 2007, the biggest cricketing event, kicked off in Jamaica a few days back. What was so special about it that a peace blog is talking about it? Well, they went a few steps ahead for humanitarian causes!

[Team India enters the Trelawny Multi Purpose stadium in Jamaica during the ICC World Cup Opening Ceremony, with a young boy wearing the AIDS Campaign T-Shirt]
ICC had tied up with UNICEF to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS through the world’s largest cricketing event, watched from over 5 continents!

QUOTE FROM UNICEF :
While the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 will see the world’s top 16 teams
do battle on the field, off the field they will be as one in supporting
the Unite for Children. Unite against AIDS campaign.
A truly worthwile cause! Since this programme is watched by more that 2.9 billion viewers worldwide, awareness through it is a worthwile idea.
The ICC Cricket World Cup partnership will help awaken the world to the
fact that “AIDS is robbing tens of millions of children of childhood
itself,” said UNICEF’s Representative in Jamaica, Bertrand Bainvel. Mr.
Bainvel spoke at a Kingston news conference held last week in the
run-up to the matches.
“Children have been the missing face of the AIDS pandemic,” said UNICEF
Executive Director Ann M. Veneman. “The International Cricket Council
will be a powerful ally in ensuring that children are at the heart of
the global response to the epidemic.”
The UNICEF website reports that to mark the occasion, they will be re-launching the “Unite for Children. Unite against Aids” website with a special section featuring video profiles of cricketers talking about the impact of AIDS on children.
During the tournament, special broadcast messages, like these, will be shown on TV. These messages were done by the Top 28 cricketers of the world including Indian Captain, Rahul Dravid, and Austrlian Captain, Ricky Pointing.

Players and officials from each team will wear the red and blue campaign ribbon during their first games and during the final. Players will also visit UNICEF-funded programmes in the Caribbean supporting children and young people affected by HIV.
With support from the Kaiser Family Foundation, the Caribbean Broadcast Media Partnership on HIV/AIDS – a coalition of over 50 broadcasters in 23 Caribbean countries and territories – is also launching the region’s first media-led, multi-platform campaign on HIV/AIDS, known as LIVE UP!
Thus, the much awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 has paved the way for an extensive global campaign on HIV/AIDS, which, no doubt, will prove effective, since citizens of countries like India hero-worship their cricketers (I, being an Indian youth, should know
). Cheerios to ICC!

50 Ways to promote peace…
Hello all,
I found this amazing page which listed 50 ways to promote peace. What’s amazing is that, the page was from the website of BenJerry’s. Now what has a company which deals in diary products got to do with peace?

I definetely do not know what…
Anyway, the message they conveyed was quite meaningful, and worth the read. So here you have it…
Oh, by the way, the source page : http://www.benjerry.com/features/50_ways/50ways.cfm

the root of a problem rather than what’s most apparent on the surface.
There you have it folks… I hope you will all try to do atleast a few mentioned above
Oh, and people, why dont you all go ahead to BenJerry’s and shout a word of THANKS for putting up such a nice message? Cheers

Follow Up on the N-Word news : Paul from BlogPaul…
Hey all,
Paul from BlogPaul commented on a recent post at BlogForPeace titled “New York City bans the N-word for better racial understanding!“. On his own blog, he wrote a post, and it seems like he changed for the better after his Ninth grade.

He writes that he used to use the word extensively, learnt from his Dad, but then after his Ninth grade, he realized that though the word didn’t mind HIM much, it minded OTHERS much.
His About page displays -
Who is this blogpaul anyway? I grew up a poor black child,
ok no I didn’t, we had money! Seriously, I relocated here to Tampa in
late 2005 from Phoenix. I pissed away most of my life in the suburbs
of Dallas by trying to be the best person I thought I could ever be,
and I still failed. I failed because I did not include the Lord in my
plan.
Yep, he’s an African American himself, and he used to use the N-word. And heres his post -
From a guy that used the word until NINTH grade (not
because I knew any different but it is just the word I used because it
is what I learned from my dad). I think this RULES!!! I personally
don’t mind the word (well obviously because I don’t take offense to it
personally ya know) but then again the girl ‘C’ word isn’t a big deal
to me either but see what kind of trouble that gets you in when you say
it to your girlfriend!!! HeheThe ‘N’ word can be brutal and I am excited that New York City made this move.
On a lighter note, I have made it a point to never single a person
out by color when talking to my children, and that can be tough for all
of us. If I want Payton to go throw something away in a trash can and a
guy just happens to be standing there, I will always say, “Go throw it
away in that trash can over there by that man”…only in the past six
months has he began to pick up for himself that it might be easier to
explain in a conversation if you use color or gender…or WEIGHT!!!Payton told me about his new class yesterday. I said, “How is your
class and how are the kids” and he said, “I really like it but there
are three brown boys that are real bad and I just stay away from them”
HAHAP.S. Several ‘brown’ members of my ninth grade football team helped me with the decision to not use the word again!!!
So thats nice isnt it
Now thats the spirit I’ve been hoping the world has. Thats the POSITIVE side of the world I’ve been talking about for a year and a half out here, and I received loads and loads of criticism(uh, I flatter myself. A better term is HATE MAIL from people who kept saying “Are you bonkers?”).
Heres proof to all my “critics” that a good world exists as well! To my other readers, lets all be like Paul shall we? We have to admit, you and I, we both have very many wrong impressions to correct, bad habits to tame. Lets join hands and make this world a better place to live in!
And Paul, Cheers dude! Keep it up
And thanks for being a great human being!

Quite interesting… Reverse Racism?
Hey all,
Somehow, I came across this page in my busy schedule, and the article looked interesting. The article has been titled “Reverse Racism” but the title itself is a blooper, since racism is always racism, irrespective of who does it to whom.

The article is about an African American who acted in a racist way against a white. Hmmmmm…. Like I said, the title itself is stupid, but its not everyday that we come across such happenings…
For the First Time, Justice Department Alleges Voting Disenfranchisement Against Whites
MACON, Miss. — In overwhelmingly black and Democratic Noxubee County, Miss., everybody knows local Democratic Party Chairman Ike Brown.
Officials at the U.S. Justice Department know Brown too; they’re suing him.
Using the 1965 Voting Rights Act, the government has alleged that Brown and local elections officials discriminated against whites. It is the first time the Justice Department has ever claimed that whites suffered discrimination in voting because of race.
“When I read the letter, it was junk, you know, bogus,” Brown told ABC News.
The Justice Department says Brown and local elections officials disenfranchised whites — challenging their voting status, rejecting their absentee ballots and telling voters to choose candidates according to race.
Brown says he has merely tried to keep white Republicans from voting in Democratic primaries. He says the lawuit is all political — an attempt to discredit him because the Democratic Party in eastern Mississippi has been doing so well at bringing new voters to the polls, which may mean someday soon that Mississippi, a red state, could turn blue.
“The Justice Department’s become an arm of the RNC,” Brown said.
The Justice Department would not comment, but county prosecutor Ricky Walker is a potential witness for the government. Walker was surprised when Brown recruited a black candidate who didn’t even live in the county to run against him. Walker, after all, is a Democrat.
“Mr. Brown seems to favor black candidates,” Walker said. “He’s always encouraged blacks to vote strictly for the black candidates.”
Unapologetic About Bias
Brown is unapologetic.
He says some local white Democrats aren’t “true” Democrats.
“We support the black candidates because we’re sure they’re going to vote in the liberal interest,” Brown said.
The case takes on added complexities given the state’s turbulent history during and after the civil rights era, especially those struggles having to do with voting. Mississippi is where civil rights leader Medgar Evers was murdered, as were the three civil rights workers looking to register blacks to vote, as depicted in the film “Mississippi Burning.”
The president of the Mississipi NAACP, Derrick Johnson, says there is still plenty of discrimination against black voters in the state, and he questions the Bush administration’s priorities in bringing this suit.
“We’ve had several issues over the years of what appeared to be racial discrimination against black voters and the Justice Department has yet to come in and do a thorough investigation,” Johnson said. “And for them to take on this case is highly unusual and very suspect.”
But others in the civil rights community take a more circumspect attitude in the case against Brown.
“Voting is precious. It’s a right that people sacrificed for for years and years,” said Leslie Burl McLemore, director of the Fannie Lou Hamer Institute at Jackson State University. “There is a way to encourage participation, and it can be done without having to discriminate against another set of voters.”
Racial Divide
Like so many things in Noxubee’s Macon community, opinions about the case divide along racial lines. Residents opined at Geneva’s Kitchen, a local restaurant, over soul food and sweet tea.
“I think Ike’s a pretty good man,” local resident Alonzo Phillips told ABC News.
“I guess he do target, you know, the Republicans, and they are white. Most of them,” said Geneva, the restaurant’s owner.
On Main Street, whites express different sentiments: “I think Ike Brown is a racist,” said a white man.
“I think we’re getting a little dose of our ancestors’ medicine, if you want to know the truth,” said another.
Those ghosts from civil rights battles past have never left Noxubee County, and they continue to influence the way the case against Brown is viewed. But guilty or innocent, the Justice Department wants this case to be about Brown, not the state’s historical disenfranchisement of black voters.
REPORT FROM : ABC NEWS
Yet again, another instance of Racism! Fate is playing with me… First, I had the GOOD news about NYC banning a racist word. And a couple of hours later, here we have ANOTHER racist attempt! Dear God!
Dear reader, lets join hands! WE NEED to stop this idiotic disease from spreading! We call ourselves civilized animals, and give the animals stock to laugh at, with our stupid actions, like racism!

New York City bans the N-word for better racial understanding!
Hey all,
I read this from Reuters, and it looks good! The New York City Admin haas banned the word “nigger” from the city. The word is used as an obscene slang for African Americans. This is a very understanding move by the NYC and I think that it is another step forward into the Race Against Racism!

Here is the report from Reuters…
New York City bans racial slur
By Daniel Trotta
NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York City symbolically banned use of the word nigger on Wednesday, the latest step in a campaign that hopes to expunge the most vile of racial slurs from hip hop music and television.
The City Council unanimously declared a moratorium that carries no penalty but aims to stop youth from casually using the word, considered by most Americans to be the most offensive in the English language.
The New York City measure follows similar resolutions this month by the New York state assembly and state senate, and supporters of the ban are taking their campaign to The Recording Academy, asking it not to nominate musicians for Grammy awards if they use the word in their lyrics.
Many rap artists and young New Yorkers toss the word around as a term of endearment or as a substitute for black, angering some black leaders who consider those who use it as ignorant of the word’s hate-filled history in slavery and segregation.“This could be the beginning of a movement,” councilman Albert Vann said.
Councilman Leroy Comrie, a sponsor of the moratorium, said the campaign against the word has gained strength since comedian Michael Richards spewed it in a racially charged tirade in Los Angeles.
The Laugh Factory club where Richards performed has since banned comedians from using the word there and the former “Seinfeld” television star has apologized.“The Michael Richards incident really brought it to another level. It has forced people to express their outrage. Many people had been seething quietly,” Comrie said.
Comrie also asked TV network Black Entertainment Television to stop using the word in its shows. Representatives of BET did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A Grammy spokesman said he doubted the academy’s 11,000 voting members would support any measure that might censor artists.
“They are not going to be supportive of something that excludes someone simply because they are using a word that is offensive,” said Ron Roecker, vice president of communication for the Recording Academy.
The city resolution calling for the moratorium traces the etymology of the word from the Latin “niger,” meaning black, to its first documented written use in 1786 as a term slave masters used to label their African slaves.Use of the word by blacks exploded with the rise of rap music in recent years, and some black comedians like Chris Rock continue to use it in their routines.
“What, is there a fine? Am I going to get a ticket?” Rock mocked in a Reuters interview when asked about the City Council move. “Do judges say, ‘10 years, nigger!’”
Rock said politicians were trying to divert attention from real problems: “Enough real bad things happen in this city to worry about how I am going to use the word.”
Yep. There you have it folks. And yes, I think its a brilliant move! Keep it up dear world of mine, and we will squash those idiots who think, act, and marvel like racists… Join the race against racism!

Yet another racist prowl…
Hello all,
As much as it saddens me, it infuriates me to decipher that there are still hardcore racists in this world, who are willing to go extremely public with their perverted opinions! Ladies and gentlemen, we are yet again facing another series of racsist strikes, courtesy Channel 4, UK. It began with Celebrity Big Brother, and now Shipwrecked has grabbed the handle!
Shipwrecked, a show that makes
castaways of two groups of young people on islands in the South
Pacific, has been widely criticized by viewers for allowing comments on
slavery to be aired.
An 18-year-old contestant on the show,
Lucy Buchanan, has been accused of supporting slavery, being racist and
mocking homosexuals and Blacks.
Claiming that the shows containing offensive comments were part of very early footage of Shipwrecked,
Channel 4 said that Lucy was pulled up by other contestants on the show
and she subsequently stopped making offensive comments.
Viewers took offence to some of the
comments Lucy said about Blacks, the British empire and fat people. “I
don’t like fat people, I don’t really like really ugly people, I don’t
like it when foreigners come into this country and they don’t take on
British culture and British values. I’m for the British Empire and
things. I’m for slavery, but that’s never going to come back,” she said
on the show.
Channel 4’s other show Big Brother
that caused the big racism controversy is being reviewed by a panel
that will put the editorial practices followed in the making of the
reality show under the scanner. In Big Brother, the ex-Indian celebrity, Shilpa Shetty was abused and was submitted to extreme racist views and opinions, by some 3rd rate British bi*ch named Jade Goody. Ms Goody Two Shoes called Shilpa a “dirty Indian”, a “dog”, a “Paki”, and India was called “a place where people are ill and thin”. Shilpa was also told to “F— off”.

Why why why people do we have racism? Arent we all from the same race? Arent we all part of that unforgivable species which is polluting the world? And Ms Goody Two Shoes calls Shilpa a “dirty” Indian. Dear pals, if it were me on that show, instead of Shilpa, that English b**ch would have had her last day in life with me pushing back the allegations up her throat with a hundred more racist attrocities! How dare she slander the noble and honourable country, which contains more culture and heritage than Ms Bitchy Goody and her entire civilization could ever dream to study!

Racism is an act of evil! Its the Devil’s weapon against the friends of God. It should be prevented, like Tony Blair said, in all forms. I’m sorry for getting emotional. At first, when I heard the Big Brother news, I wasnt the least bit sorry for Shilpa. I thought it was all media hype. Then I realized later that Ms Goody not only committed the crime, but later arrogantly refused to apologize. Somehow, the two women hugged and forgave each other on TV, which was evidently a staged drama for extremely fat cashchecks.
Anyway dear people, we need a drastic change against Racism… Lets join hands… Join my race, against Racism…

New Year Resolutions… What the world is saying…
Hey all,
ACNielson, the world’s leading market research company had done a massive net survey on what the world resolving to do during the next year… And today, CNN IBN reported the results in a quite interesting post!

New Delhi: Guess what is the most popular resolution for the New Year among the Indians!
With less than few days to go before the
end of the year, over half (59 per cent) of the India’s online
population has already decided on their New Year’s resolutions, with 67
per cent of them promising to exercise more and 74 per cent planning a
better home/work balance, according to ACNielsen, the world’s leading
market research and information company. The ACNielsen Online Consumer Opinion
Survey, the largest half-yearly survey of its kind, was conducted in
late October/early November, surveying 25,408 Internet users in 46
countries from Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, the Baltics and
Middle East. The survey found Indian men to be more in
favour of having a New Year Resolution (60 per cent) as compared to
women (54 per cent). Another interesting finding that the research
shows is that people in India (74 per cent) surpass their Asia-Pacific
(61 per cent) counterparts in their desire to strike a better work-life
balance in the coming New Year, Sarang Panchal, Executive Director of
Customized Research at ACNielsen South Asia, said. The third most popular (50 per cent) resolution among Indians was to ’spend more time with the family’.
‘Exercise more’ is the most popular New
Year resolutions for Indians in their 50s (68 per cent) and it changes
to ’spend more time with family’ as soon as they cross 65 (70 per
cent). For younger generation in their 25s, ‘work-life balance’ is the
most sought-after New Year resolution (82 per cent). Over 67 per cent
of online Indian consumer under the age of 20 would like to ‘quit
smoking’ in the coming year.“People make New Year’s resolutions to
make up for the things they should have done but didn’t in the past
year,” says Panchal. “Judging by our survey findings, there is a strong
connection between the top three most popular New Year’s resolutions
among global consumers – ‘Exercise more, better work-life balance and
go on a diet’ – are all designed to set us on a path to a better and
healthier 2007.”Though there is always a common complaint
that New Year resolutions are hard to keep, most people participated in
the survey expect to keep it. In fact, over 99 per cent of Indians who
made a New Year’s resolution said they expect to stick to it.The Nielsen online survey, involving 25
408 web participants in 46 countries, also found many respondents who
wanted to lose weight and stop smoking in 2007, while 26 per cent were
planning to take up a new hobby. Here is a summery of the findings of the survey in some other parts of the world:-
New Zealand: Kiwis plan to
exercise more, achieve a better work-life balance and spend more time
with their families in 2007. In fact, 71 per cent of those surveyed
said the plan to exercise more. The next most popular resolution was to
achieve a better work/life balance (49 per cent), then spending more
time with family (29 per cent), taking up a new hobby (25 per cent) and
going on a diet (23 per cent). People were more worried about cutting
down or giving up smoking (18 per cent) than wanted to cut down or stop
drinking alcohol (8 per cent). More cryptically, 13 per cent of people
wanted to avoid disastrous personal relationships, while 10 per cent of
New Zealanders wanted to change jobs.United States: One in three US consumers — who have the highest rate of obesity in the developed world — planned to go on a diet.
“Consumers have realised a healthy
lifestyle is not about the latest celebrity diet or trendy exercise
fads, but is simply about having a balanced diet and lifestyle,”
ACNielsen Europe President Patrick Dodd said.South Africa: The most popular
single resolution in South Africa is to exercise more. Over 62 per cent
of respondents worldwide want to burn off the kilojoules and 51 per
cent want to achieve a better balance between work and personal life.
About 60 per cent of South Africans who took part in the survey had
considered or made New Year’s resolutions, and 54 per cent of them
thought that they would stick to them.Vietnam: Nine out of every 10
Vietnamese want to turn over a new leaf next year. In fact, Vietnam
topped the world with most people seeking a better work-life balance
(84 per cent), spending more time with family (54 per cent), avoiding
disastrous personal relationships (50 per cent) and a change of job (28
per cent).Thailand: Thais top the world with
most people planning to take up a new hobby (58 per cent) and cut down
on alcohol (18 per cent) in the New Year.
Its interesting to note the changes in the aptitude of people. Two years ago, people resolved to stop smoking, to work harder, and to promote peace. This year, they are resolving to exercising, better home/work balance, and spending more time with the family. Is our world becoming more selfish? Are we bothered so much about our own problems, that we don’t have time for the world?
Well, I hope that there are atleast a few people in our midst who think for the world. Apart from these selfish creatures who have eyes for no one but themselves, the world needs good people! Ladies and Gentlemen, lets join hands! Speak out, by emails, by comments, by scraps, by shouts, by calls, or by letters! Let me hear you speak! And let the world hear your ideas!

My debate today : Modernization is leading to the decline of moral values…
Today I participated in a debate. The topic was “Modernization
is leading to the decline of moral values…” The topic, a philosophical one, matched the theme of this blog, and I thought I would publish it here. I spoke AGAINST the motion…
P.S: I got the the best debator against the motion award
So, here is the award winning speech…
“Modernization is
leading to the decline of moral values…”Luke 12 : 57 Jesus
said, “Why do you not judge for yourself, what is right”.Resp. judges,
teachers, opponents, associates, ladies and gentlemen. A very good morning to
one and all. I stand before you, on this very fine morning, to speak against
the motion, that modernization is leading to a decline in moral values.Let me start off by
saying what are moral values. Moral values are those set of unwritten rules
which a society thinks is right. Very many people say that moral values have
declined over the years, due to modernization. The fact is, like every other
factor in nature, moral values haven’t declined, but is undergoing constant
change.
Morality based on
the Bible deals with honesty, and integrity. “Moral standards have been lost
through greed”, remarked an ex-German chancellor. The truth is, greed has been
present right from the time Judas betrayed Jesus. And this same greed is
referred to as the cause for declining moral values today. Thus we see that
greed is not a cause for decline of moral values.
In different
aspects of our day to day life, we can clearly see that moral values have not
been lost. Lets take, for example, right here – the school. Education . Means
of education has shifted from the Gurukul system to the schools we see today.
Teachers have changed from enlightened saints to knowledge based lecturers. But
we don’t see an outright decline in the standard of education. In fact, Indian
students are more competitive and knowledgeable that many other international
students. The teacher-student relationship has changed from strict enforced
beliefs to friendly, compassionate teaching, with proper understanding of a student.
This is definitely something positive leading to better quality in education,
and thereby showing off the possible increase in moral values. In terms of science
and technology, we see that modernization has lead to sustainable research,
taking into consideration the adverse effects of any invention, to mankind, and
the environment. Contrary to this, earlier on, little emphasis was given to
sustenance of mankind, or the adverse long time effects. The focus then was
mostly on economy. Thus modernization
has brought about a positive change in moral values considering technology. Also considering
the recent trends of Information Technology, and its advancements, we see that
IT focuses mainly in improving humanely comforts. Can’t you imagine the
happiness of a grandfather when he video-chats with his grandchildren, who are
abroad due to some reason? It is, therefore, another emphasis on the growing,
and not declining, rate of moral values. If compassion, and
care, are bases for morality, then yet again, moral values have not declined. We
see social work, and people volunteering to do social work, all around us. Look
at Mata Amritanandamayi! Look at Sai Baba! Look at the hundreds and thousands
of NGOs helping out the poor and needy! We see renowned people taking in
orphans, and setting an example for all childless parents to take. Yes, I’m
talking about the pop star Madonna adopting an African orphan, whose both
parents died due to AIDS! I believe, from what I see around me, that our
present world is a much more caring, and compassionate one from the world a few
decades ago!A few of my
opponents brought up the point of the increasing number of old age homes. In
fact, this is another way of showing that people care. Parents are not pushed
out of their homes and forced into old age homes like we see in films or soap
operas! There are parents out there who have lost their children, or don’t have
children, or who have children in far off places, where they’re forced to go to
support the family! For these people, old age homes are boons, and there are
people to make such old age homes! In close relation
with care, we see that Human Rights are gaining a good upper hand in our
present world. All over the world, laws are being made, and realized, for Human
Rights, and also protection of an individual. For example, look at the
Reservations! Consider the women empowerment programme. If a misdeed was done
50 years ago, a person had no other go, but to sit and cry. Today, he can
approach a court, or any other legal agency!Another point I
would like to make is about the news-media prevalent today. We see an ever
increasing rise of news sources, trying to deliver the most accurate news to
the eager people. The indication that people want to know more, is an
indication of the increase in moral values…Thus ladies and
gentlemen, I make no rash promises when I say, that moral values HAVE NOT
DECLINED due to modernization, and nor will it decline in the near future. Man
cannot survive without modernization. And ancient moral values cannot survive
without edits of modernization. Thus saying, I end my views, Thank youProperty of Neo Garfield (aka

Record breaking Ozone hole… Antartica gets a blazer!
Hey all,
As everyone is scared and concerned about the ozone problems, and as scientists vehemently protest that the ozone holes are healing, there emerges the biggest ozone hole in history!

This year’s Antarctic ozone hole is the biggest ever, US government scientists said on Thursday.
The so-called hole is a region where there
is severe depletion of the layer of ozone, a form of oxygen in the
upper atmosphere that protects life on Earth by blocking ultraviolet
rays from the sun.
Scientists say human-produced gases such
as bromine and chlorine damage the layer causing the hole. That is the
reason many compounds such as spray-can propellants have been banned in
recent years.
“From September 21 to 30, the average area
of the ozone hole was the largest ever observed, at 10.6 million square
miles (27.4 million square kilometers),’” said Paul Newman, atmospheric
scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
That is larger than the area of North America.
In addition satellite measurements
observed a low reading of 85 Dobson units of ozone on October 8. That
is down from a thickness of 300 Dobson units in July.
The ozone hole is considered to be the area with total column ozone below 220 Dobson Units.
A reading of 100 Dobson Units means that
if all the ozone in the air above a point were brought down to
sea-level pressure and cooled to freezing it would form a layer one
centimetre thick. A reading of 250 Dobson Units translates to a layer
about one inch (2.54 centimetres) thick.
In a critical layer of air between eight
miles (13 kilometres) and 13 miles (21 kilometres) above the surface
the measurement was only 1.2 Dobson unit, down from 125 in July.
“These numbers mean the ozone is virtually
gone in this layer of the atmosphere,” said David Hofmann, director of
the Global Monitoring Division at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration’s Earth System Research Laboratory.
“The depleted layer has an unusual
vertical extent this year, so it appears that the 2006 ozone hole will
go down as a record-setter,” Hofmann added.
The size and thickness of the ozone hole varies from year to year, becoming larger when temperatures are lower.
Because of international agreements
banning ozone-depleting substances researchers calculated that these
chemicals peaked in Antarctica in 2001 and have been declining.
However, many of them have extremely long lifetimes once released into the air.
While there are year-to-year variations, scientists expect a slow recovery of the ozone layer by the year 2065.
Eeeks.. I wouldn’t want to live in Antartica after all this! Lets pray that no meltdown happens! Cheerio!

Cricket : Ashes - the real target of 7/7 bombers
Hey all,
I’m sorry I’m not bringing you the humour I promised you. I saw this news on CNN, and I thought of posting it…
New Delhi: The London bombers
behind the July 7, 2005 terror attacks were initially ordered by
al-Qaeda to assassinate the England and Australia cricket teams during
the 2005 Ashes, The Sunday Times reported. The claims were made by a friend of one of the terrorists, Hasib Hussain, the bus bomber who killed 13 people.
The friend, who is willing to pass his information to the police, uses a pseudonym, Ahmed Hafiz.
Hafiz, whose family has known the Hussains
for 25 years, said he had received details of the bombers’ visit from
members of his extended family, who are involved in running a ‘camp’ in
Kashmir, The Sunday Times reported.According to Hafiz, 32, the bombers were
instructed to get jobs as stewards at the Edgbaston cricket ground and
to spray sarin gas inside the changing rooms. The second Test between England and
Australia, whose governments have supported Washington in the war on
terror, began on August 4, 2005.The bombers, Mohammad Sidique Khan and
Shehzad Tanweer, allegedly received the orders at a training camp near
Kotli in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in December 2004.Hafiz claimed Tanweer, 22, objected to the plot, possibly because he was a cricketer.
Hafiz was told by a witness that Tanweer argued with Khan, 30, and a scuffle between them had to be broken up by a “chaperone”.
Days later, Hafiz claims, the camp’s
commanders, terrorists affiliated to al-Qaeda, revealed the plot to
bomb the London Underground to Khan and Tanweer.“It was always there, as Plan B,” Hafiz told The Sunday Times.
Although it was known the two bombers
visited Pakistan in November 2004, until now no details have emerged
about which camp they attended. On Saturday, a senior anti-terrorist officer in the July 7 investigation said they would be interested to interview the source.
According to Hafiz, the camp commanders put Khan and Tanweer in touch with a bomb-making expert, who was based in Birmingham.
The expert, known as Afzal Shaan, is said to be a chemistry graduate from a British university who is in his forties.
Hafiz has also provided an explanation for Khan’s emergence as the ringleader of the London bombers.

What is this world coming to? Terrorists vs Cricket? Heavens! Tomorrow, they might aim at hospitals! If any of you so called “terrorists” are reading this right now, please give your actions a second thought! What did any of these people ever do to offend you or your preposterous organization???!!!!
This is a plea for peace….

HOT NEWS! Cops link 7/11 case to 9/11 bombings
New Delhi/Mumbai: Claiming a
breakthrough in the 7/11 Mumbai blasts investigations, Mumbai police
have traced a 9/11 link to the Mumbai blasts that claimed almost 200
lives and rattled India’s business capital.
Officials claim the Mumbai train blasts were funded by terrorist outfit al-Qaeda and that some of the accused in the 7/11 case had trained with the prime accused of the World Trade Centre attacks.
The blasts were carried out by Lashkar-e-Toiba, they claim. These revelations are based on hard evidence collected by the Anti-Terrorism Squad and investigators over the last two months.
The details, available exclusively with CNN-IBN, show that at least three of the accused in the Mumbai blasts had trained with the prime accused of the World Trade Centre attacks in
New York on Septmeber 11, 2001 - the deadliest terror attack in world
history that killed about 3,000 people.
Sources in the Maharashtra Government have also confirmed that:
- The leader of the al-Qaeda
group that carried out the 9/11 operation, Mohammad Atta, had
interacted and trained with at least three of the men who carried out
7/11 serial bombings in Mumbai. The interaction took place in a terror
training camp in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in 2000. - Officials claim there is evidence
to prove that the funding came from al-Qaeda sources and was routed
through Hawala channels from Dubai. - They also claim to have fresh evidence about the 9/11 conspiracy.
- The Maharashtra government now
says it is in a position to share this information with the FBI, and is
seeking the Centre’s permission on the matter.
Sources in the Maharashtra government claim 17 people were directly involved in the 7/11 serial bombings, and all of them are now in police custody. While a majority of them are from Kashmir, a few allegedly hailed from Bangladesh.
All 17 accused had allegedly undergone
training in camps across the border in Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir. Three
of the accused have confessed to training in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir
in 2000 alongside the attackers of the World Trade centre.
Some of the crucial leads in the probe
have emerged out of the interrogation of suspects picked by the police
after Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil’s visit to Malegaon follwing
the bombings.
The accused have revealed that both the
Malegaon Bombings and the 7/11 serial blasts could have been carried
out by the same group with the sole aim of creating communal trouble.
The crucial link between the mosque
bombings in Malegaon and the Mumbai train blasts not only goes to show
the extent of terrorists’ sinister plans, but also the entire
conspiracy is part of the larger global design to spread terror coming
from virtually one source - the al-Qaeda.

The real story of Taj Mahal… History Questioned…
Hey all,
I came across this article, and I thought that I would share my views with you, about the Real History of “Taj Mahal” …
Taj Mahal is one of the 7 wonders of the world. Located in Agra, India, it is completely made of pure white marble. It attracts millions of tourists every year from all over the world.

It is believed that the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, made the Taj Mahal as a burial tomb for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It was created in 1653, after 22 years of labour by 20,000 artisans. It is said that Shah Jahan cut the arms of all these artisans, so that they would never replicate this work.
But now, BBC reports, from Stephen Knapp’s book, that Taj Mahal was not a tomb. It was an ancient temple dedicated to Shiva, a God of the Hindu mythology.
NOW READ THIS…….
No one has ever challenged it except Prof. P. N. Oak, who believes the
whole world has been duped. In his book Taj Mahal: The True Story, Oak
says the Taj Mahal is not Queen Mumtaz’s tomb but an ancient Hindu temple palace
of Lord Shiva (then known as Tejo Mahalaya).
In the course of his
research Oak discovered that the Shiva temple palace was usurped by
Shah Jahan from then Maharaja of Jaipur, Jai Singh. In his own court
chronicle, Badshahnama,
Shah Jahan admits that an exceptionally beautiful grand mansion in Agra
was taken from Jai SIngh for Mumtaz’s burial. The ex-Maharaja of Jaipur
still retains in his secret collection two orders from Shah Jahan for
surrendering the Taj building. Using captured temples and mansions, as
a burial place for dead courtiers and royalty was a common practice among Muslim rulers.
For example, Humayun,Akbar, Etmud-ud-Daula and Safdarjung are all
buried in such mansions. Oak’s inquiries began with the name of Taj
Mahal. He says the term “Mahal” has never been used for a building in any Muslim
countries from Afghanisthan to Algeria. “The unusual explanation that
the term Taj Mahal derives from Mumtaz Mahal was illogical in atleast two respects. Firstly, her name was never Mumtaz Mahal but Mumtaz-ul-Zamani,” he
writes.
“Secondly, one cannot omit the first three letters ‘Mum’ from a
woman’s
name to derive the remainder as the name for the building. Taj Mahal”,
he claims, “is a corrupt version of Tejo Mahalaya, or Lord Shiva’s
Palace.” Oak also says the love story of Mumtaz and Shah Jahan is a
fairy tale created by court sycophants, blundering historians and
sloppy archaeologists. Not a single royal chronicle of Shah Jahan’s
time corroborates the love story.
Furthermore, Oak cites several documents suggesting the Taj Mahal
predates Shah Jahan’s era, and was a temple dedicated to Shiva,
worshipped by Rajputs of Agra city.
For example, Prof. Marvin Miller of
New York took a few samples from the riverside doorway of the Taj.
Carbon dating tests revealed that the door was 300 years older than Shah Jahan. European traveler
Johan Albert Mandelslo, who visited Agra in 1638 (only seven years after
Mumtaz’s death), describes the life of the city in his memoirs. But he makes no
reference to the Taj Mahal being built. The writings of Peter Mundy, an
English visitor to Agra within a year of Mumtaz’s death, also suggest
the Taj was a noteworthy building well before Shah Jahan’s time.
Prof. Oak points out a number of design and architectural
inconsistencies that support the belief of the Taj Mahal being a
typical Hindu temple rather than a mausoleum.
Many rooms in the Taj ! Mahal have remained sealed since Shah Jahan’s
time and are still inaccessible to the public. Oak asserts they contain
a headless statue of Lord Shiva and other objects commonly used for
worship rituals in Hindu temples.
For photographic evidence, visit http://www.stephen-knapp.com/was_the_taj_mahal_a_vedic_temple.htm
Thus, the existence and development of the great Taj Mahal is questioned. What will its future be?

“Fatwa against Vande Mataram” A report…
Friends, Webizens, Countrymen…
Now, the Indian Muslim Chiefs have gone TOO far! I was never in favour of their policies or stands on different issues. But, since my relegion teaches relegious tolerence, I tried to accomodate them. They started off with raising the issue of Tennis star Sania Mirza wearing miniskirts while playing tennis!!! Yeesh! What else should she wear? A sari?
Now, they are out to prove they are not even Indian! They have issued a fatwa(a relegious rule) against the reciting of Vande Mataram!!!!
This National Song of India, by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, is sung by all, and is enjoyed. The verses form beautiful couplets on nature, freedom, and beauty. The utopian muslim leaders are saying that the lines portray against their relegion (I say BULLS**T!)

Even THINKING of such a thing should result in the SOB muslim leader being beheaded. And they have gone even more far! They went on to order muslim parents NOT to send their children to a school where Vande Mataram was sung! To betray the country is one thing, but denying basic education is a crime by itself, mentioned in the Constitution.

Cool with thy winds of delight,
Dark fields waving Mother of might,
Mother free.
Glory of moonlight dreams,
Over thy branches and lordly streams,
Clad in thy blossoming trees,
Mother, giver of ease
Laughing low and sweet!
Mother I kiss thy feet,
Speaker sweet and low!
Mother, to thee I bow.
Who hath said thou art weak in thy lands
When the sword flesh out in the seventy million hands
And seventy million voices roar
Thy dreadful name from shore to shore?
With many strengths who art mighty and stored,
To thee I call Mother and Lord!
Though who savest, arise and save!
To her I cry who ever her foeman drove
Back from plain and Sea
And shook herself free.
Thou art wisdom, thou art law,
Thou art heart, our soul, our breath
Though art love divine, the awe
In our hearts that conquers death.
Thine the strength that nervs the arm,
Thine the beauty, thine the charm.
Every image made divine
In our temples is but thine.
Thou art Durga, Lady and Queen,
With her hands that strike and her
swords of sheen,
Thou art Lakshmi lotus-throned,
And the Muse a hundred-toned,
Pure and perfect without peer,
Mother lend thine ear,
Rich with thy hurrying streams,
Bright with thy orchard gleems,
Dark of hue O candid-fair
In thy soul, with jewelled hair
And thy glorious smile divine,
Lovilest of all earthly lands,
Showering wealth from well-stored hands!
Mother, mother mine!
Mother sweet, I bow to thee,Mother great and free!
Thats the Vande Mataram. But I cant see what is outrightly troubling the muslim clerics.
The controversy with the National Song is not new. Even progressive Muslims feel that the words Vande Mataram are against the teachings of Islam where Allah is supreme and no one else, not even the Motherland. : CNN
You gotta be kidding me!!! They are denying poor kids their basic education because they BELIEVE that Allah said that He was the supreme God! How C-R-A-Z-Y can you get? Puh-leeze! Did Krishna ever say “Worship me! I’m the greatest!”? Did Jesus ever decalre “Do not worship anyone else! I’m the best!” ? Did Buddha ever pronounce “Nobody else is better than me! I’m the best! I’m the best!” ?
Similarly, I believe that Allah NEVER said such a thing. I believe that this is all made up bullsh*t, just to earn a quick penny, by declaring to other countries that India is imposing laws on them! I believe that such asses of the community should be kicked out of the country, so that India improves. These goddamn asses are the only reason why India is not developing as fast as it should! Begone dirty muslim clerics! Let the people live in peace! Let the muslims be free of your fu**ass attitude!
Is India really independant? NO! Its constrained by these idiots, and bigger idiots named politicians! Join hands people! We need peace, not war!!!!
