“The Mess of Love” by D H Lawrence…

Good evening,

My Literature professor has been reccomending the reading of a certain poem over a few weeks now. I caught up on it today, and was amazed to find how, well, radical it was! It is almost as if running at a speed of 100 kmph and ramming into a solid wall! A quite different view of “Love” as such! Without much further ado, let me introduce to you, “The Mess of Love” by D H Lawrence…

The Mess of Love

We’ve made a great mess of love
Since we made an ideal of it.

The moment I swear to love a woman, a certain woman, all my life
That moment I begin to hate her.

The moment I even say to a woman: I love you! —
My love dies down considerably.

The moment love is an understood thing between us, we are sure of it,
It’s a cold egg, it isn’t love any more.

Love is like a flower, it must flower and fade;
If it doesn’t fade, it is not a flower,
It’s either an artificial rag blossom, or an immortelle, for the cemetery.

The moment the mind interferes with love, or the will fixes on it,
Or the personality assumes it as an attribute, or the ego takes possession of it,
It is not love any more, it’s just a mess.
And we’ve made a great mess of love, mind-perverted, will-perverted, ego-perverted love.
- © 1929 D. H. Lawrence

Now that we have finished reading and assimilating the poem,  I would like to comment on a few of his ideas. He goes against the very traditional notions that “love is eternal” as narrated by Shakespeare and Wordsworth. He says that if an individual realizes he/she is in love, then it isnt love anymore. In other words, you realize that you’re in love only when the relationship about to fall apart. Quite a shock for movie directors :D .

We see movies and soaps which go like “I love you, I love you, I love you……….”  and so on and so forth. According to Lawrence, that realization is like the last furious flame of a candle before its estinguished. Interesting field of thought. I wouldnt agree much with it, but I cant be too firm in my opinion since I have never been in a true relationship myself.

But then, most of the people disagree with most of Lawrence’s works, thus I guess I’m justified in my opinion. Maybe Lawrence was a revolutionist, and that’s why we fail to recognize the beauty in the work.

Despite all this, and something I found different from the different reviews of the poem I read, is that it seems like the entire crux of the poem lies in the last line “And we’ve made a great mess of love, mind-perverted, will-perverted, ego-perverted love.”  I think that he’s actual opinion is just about the mess of love, rather than the in-eternality of love…

What are your views? Its quite interesting to learn more about love, since as advocates for peace, we keep advocating love, and here we face with a challenge. If any of you have understood the poem in much deeper depth, please do comment.

Unsuni… The unheard…

Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

I had the magical oppurtunity today of having watched a wonderful dance-drama show named the “Unsuni” meaning the “Unheard, done by the Darpana Arts and Drama society, about them whom where unheard in our society. It was a true eye opener, or in other words, it opened my eyes even more to certain facts which I was trying to deny, and oppose from existence.

The one and a half hour play discussed about 5 different stories, which were real life incidents, which happened in India. Happenings in the lives of a beggar, a farmer, a manual scavenger, a women’s whose family was massacared in front of her eyes due to socio-relegious issues, and a leper. All these people were denied the chance to justice or their rights. Their living conditions were miserable. They had no place to call their home. Their story was not heard. They had no way to claim their lives as true - the court denied their very existence!

But “they” lived on, and fought for their cause. They made the difference for their community. They made us, call “them” “us”, when we shouldnt have been calling “them” ‘them’ in the first place!

The play was so real and tantalizing, that I felt a part and gestalt of “our” very existence. The questions Unsuni rose, and the questions they answered, and the eyes they opened were eternal and infinite. If you have watched Unsuni, please do comment on your experiences. For the others, you can check out the Unsuni website (www.unsuni.net) for more information about the movement, the shows, the venues and so on…

You can obtain the script of the play on their “Sources” webpage.

Thank you dear reader. I hope you’ll go through the Unsuni script, and support Unsuni with all your heart. We can make a difference. What you and me are doing makes a difference. So lets make it!

Remember what I said about attitude? Here’s a cool example…

Hey all,
Do you guys remember what I said about “attitude” a couple of weeks back? (I know you dont, but I live my life believing that my articles are admired and memorised by a big bunch of readers, so dont hurt my ego, please dig up that article using the Search feature, or Digg up that article using digg.com, and continue reading this…)

Anyway… Once upon a time, uh, I mean, 2 years back, I had a senior. She, yes its a girl(duh!), was a very intelligent, witty, *short* gal whom everyone adored, but also teased due to her *height* which stopped a half inch to five foot ;) I remember her as what we call a “book-worm” or a “studious geek”. Ofcourse, juniors always form extremely puffed up images of seniors which may be entirely untrue (for example, a few of MY juniors keep saying that I’m “cool”).

While I was browsing through the vast expanses of the internet today, I came across her blog, and she had this interesting post(yes, all this blabber was just an introduction to her post, this IS a PEACE blog - I can’t just say “Here’s a cool post” - I need to find a hidden moral :P ). The post went on to say about those things about herself that she was “definitely proud of“, but the list included her strengths as well as her infirmities. It went on like this -

1.My height
Vertically challenged that i am, i epitomise the fact that ” sweet things definitely come in small packages”

2.My smile
Warm, genuine and worth a million dollars. I manage to show ” 64 teeth in one go”

3.My haircut
The IN thing in fashion world, i spent 120 bucks for a hair cut that makes me” look like hutch puppie’s twin” with my hair open.

4.My Voice
Husky, “sexy” and different. I possess the unique ability to ” sound like a guy over the phone”

5,My music skills
” Would beat norah jones at the grammys”. they said it rite, I ROCK

7.My math
you just can’t beat me at it. Oops!! did i just count six on my fingers??

8.My sense of humour
Goofy, campy and clever. I am the ” queen of PJs”

9.My friends
Wonderful, wise and wacky . My biggest asset and the bestest assortment you can possibly come across.

10.My family
Supportive, caring and the best ever. Love you loads

Footnote:
I know the article is sweet. Told you anything small is.

Toenote:
you gotta know me well to appreciate the article. Sincere heartfelt apologies to all those fans who haven’t met me yet.

Nailnote:
For the ignorant, anything within quotes are utterances by great men and women

Now thats what I call attitude :). Here’s a person who is ready for the “people ready” world ;). Be proud of whatever you are! Be proud of your strengths! Be proud of your weaknesses as well! Because there is no positive without a negative. Nature loves symmetry. Did scientists ignore electrons because they had a negative charge, and look at only the positive protons? Nope. And now, because they did not ignore electrons, we have an array theories and applications, which makes life a lot more interesting, simpler, and understandable.

Philosophers may say, “Look at the positive side”. I don’t. When approached by an adverse situation, I think, “How can I approach this and conquer this? Through its positive effect or negative effect?”. In certain cases, your weaknesses turn into strengths. In certain cases, come to think about it, your negatives turn positives. And like Stephen Hawkings, you might discover that the negatives are absorbed by the good ol’ black hole, leaving only positives (Theory of entropy of Black Holes - explosion of Black Holes)…

Check :). And yes, I’m checking my post here as well. I have a fat lot more of Biology to complete before my final exam on Wednesday… So caio! Azeera chechi, if you’re reading this, thanks for yet another object to write on :)

P.S: Big news coming tomorrow (If I risk it online…) A sister site to be launched :) Stay tuned :)

Follow Up on the N-Word news : Paul from BlogPaul…

Hey all,
Paul from BlogPaul commented on a recent post at BlogForPeace titled “New York City bans the N-word for better racial understanding!“.  On his own blog, he wrote a post, and it seems like he changed for the better after his Ninth grade.

He writes that he used to use the word extensively, learnt from his Dad, but then after his Ninth grade, he realized that though the word didn’t mind HIM much, it minded OTHERS much.

    His About page displays -

Who is this blogpaul anyway?  I grew up a poor black child,
ok no I didn’t, we had money!  Seriously, I relocated here to Tampa in
late 2005 from Phoenix.  I pissed away most of my life in the suburbs
of Dallas by trying to be the best person I thought I could ever be,
and I still failed.  I failed because I did not include the Lord in my
plan.

Yep, he’s an African American himself, and he used to use the N-word. And heres his post -

From a guy that used the word until NINTH grade (not
because I knew any different but it is just the word I used because it
is what I learned from my dad). I think this RULES!!! I personally
don’t mind the word (well obviously because I don’t take offense to it
personally ya know) but then again the girl ‘C’ word isn’t a big deal
to me either but see what kind of trouble that gets you in when you say
it to your girlfriend!!! Hehe

The ‘N’ word can be brutal and I am excited that New York City made this move.

On a lighter note, I have made it a point to never single a person
out by color when talking to my children, and that can be tough for all
of us. If I want Payton to go throw something away in a trash can and a
guy just happens to be standing there, I will always say, “Go throw it
away in that trash can over there by that man”…only in the past six
months has he began to pick up for himself that it might be easier to
explain in a conversation if you use color or gender…or WEIGHT!!!

Payton told me about his new class yesterday. I said, “How is your
class and how are the kids” and he said, “I really like it but there
are three brown boys that are real bad and I just stay away from them”
HAHA

P.S. Several ‘brown’ members of my ninth grade football team helped me with the decision to not use the word again!!!

So thats nice isnt it :) Now thats the spirit I’ve been hoping the world has. Thats the POSITIVE side of the world I’ve been talking about for a year and a half out here, and I received loads and loads of criticism(uh, I flatter myself. A better term is HATE MAIL from people who kept saying “Are you bonkers?”).

Heres proof to all my “critics” that a good world exists as well! To my other readers, lets all be like Paul shall we? We have to admit, you and I, we both have very many wrong impressions to correct, bad habits to tame. Lets join hands and make this world a better place to live in!

And Paul, Cheers dude! Keep it up :) And thanks for being a great human being!

The sky from my home…

Hey all,
I’m in quite a serene mood today, so I’ll just post a picture I took from the roof of my house… It shows the moody sunset, and I have to admit, it WAS a beautiful oppurtunity for a poem(which I’ll post some other day)… Enjoy…

The sky’s beautiful isnt it? Makes you wonder about the wonders of nature… Makes you wonder about the bounty of God… Makes you wonder about the magic of creation… And evolution…

Ofcourse, had I been a better photographer, I would have done a better job with my Canon PowerShot A95, but for the time being :D

Ahimsa…

Hello all,
Today, I would like to share with you a few thoughts about Ahimsa, nonviolence. I am a supporter of ahimsa though I’m not able to follow it strictly in every sphere of my life. Ahimsa is the great philosophy which arose in India. Later, made popular by Mahatma Gandhi and Sir Vivekananda, this principle deals with a-himsa, meaning, prevention of violence.

Gandhiji, on being questioned about ahimsa said thus,

Literally speaking, ahimsa means non-violence. But to me it has much higher, infinitely
higher meaning. It means that you may not offend anybody; you may not harbor
uncharitable
thought, even in connection with those who consider your enemies. To one who follows this
doctrine, there are no enemies. A man who believes in the efficacy of this
doctrine finds in
the ultimate stage, when he is about to reach the goal, the whole world at his feet.
If
you express your love- Ahimsa-in such a manner that it impresses itself indelibly upon
your so called enemy, he must return that love.

This doctrine tells us that we may guard
the honor of those  under our charge by delivering our own lives into the hands of
the man who would commit the sacrilege. And that requires far greater courage than
delivering of blows.

So what is actually ahimsa and why practice it? Simple. Following the principle of ahimsa promotes love. In the more practical sense, it produces peace; something really essential in our world today.

There is one religion - the religion of love, of peace. There is one message, the
message of Ahimsa. Ahimsa is a supreme duty of man.

You can read more about ahimsa, its principles, and how to practice it  in this article written by Sri Swami Sivananda. I will quote a few lines from the article…

In the regeneration and divinisation of man, the first step is to
eliminate his beastly nature. The predominant trait in beasts is cruelty. Therefore, wise
sages prescribe Ahimsa (non-injury). This is the most effective master-method to
counteract and eradicate completely the brutal, cruel Pasu-Svabhava (bestial nature) in
man.

Practice of Ahimsa develops love. Ahimsa is another name for truth or love. Ahimsa is
universal love. It is pure love. It is divine Prem. Where there is love, there you will
find Ahimsa. Where there is Ahimsa, there you will find love and selfless service. They
all go together.

The one message of all saints and prophets of all times and climes, is the message of
love, of Ahimsa, of selfless service. Ahimsa is the noblest and best of traits that are
found expressed in the daily life and activities of perfected souls. Ahimsa is the one
means, not only to attain Salvation, but also to enjoy uninterrupted peace and bliss. Man
attains peace by injuring no living creature.

There is one religion - the religion of love, of peace. There is one message, the
message of Ahimsa. Ahimsa is a supreme duty of man.

Ahimsa, or refraining from causing pain to any living creature, is a distinctive
quality emphasized by Indian ethics. Ahimsa or non-violence has been the central doctrine
of Indian culture from the earliest days of its history. Ahimsa is a great spiritual
force.

    What is ahimsa?

Ahimsa or non-injury, of course, implies non-killing. But, non-injury is
not merely non-killing. In its comprehensive meaning, Ahimsa or non-injury means entire
abstinence from causing any pain or harm whatsoever to any living creature, either by
thought, word, or deed. Non-injury requires a harmless mind, mouth, and hand.

Ahimsa is not mere negative non-injury. It is positive, cosmic love. It is the
development of a mental attitude in which hatred is replaced by love. Ahimsa is true
sacrifice. Ahimsa is forgiveness. Ahimsa is Sakti (power). Ahimsa is true strength.

    How do you practice ahimsa?

When thoughts of revenge and hatred arise in the mind, try to control the
physical body and speech first. Do not utter evil and harsh words. Do not censure. Do not
try to injure others. If you succeed in this by practice for some months, the negative
thoughts of revenge, having no scope for manifesting outside, will die by themselves. It
is extremely difficult to control such thoughts from the very beginning without having
recourse to control of the body and speech first.

First control your physical body. When a man beats you, keep quiet. Suppress your
feelings. Follow the instructions of Jesus Christ in his Sermon On The Mount:
“If a man beats you on one cheek, turn to him the other cheek also. If a man takes
away your coat, give him your shirt also.” This is very difficult in the beginning.
The old Samskaras (impressions) of revenge, of “a tooth for a tooth”, “tit
for tat”, “an eye for an eye”, and “paying in the same coin” will
all force you to retaliate. But you will have to wait cooly. Reflect and meditate. Do
Vichara or right enquiry. The mind will become calm. The opponent who was very furious
will also become calm, because he does not get any opposition from your side. He gets
astonished and terrified also, because you stand like a sage. By and by, you will gain
immense strength. Keep the ideal before you. Try to get at it, though with faltering steps
at first. Have a clear-cut mental image of Ahimsa and its immeasurable advantages.

After controlling the body, control your speech. Make a strong determination, “I
will not speak any harsh word to anybody from today”. You may fail a hundred times.
What does it matter ? You will slowly gain strength. Check the impulse of speech. Observe
Mouna (silence). Practice Kshama or forgiveness. Say within yourself: “He is a
baby-soul. He is ignorant, that is why he has done it. Let me excuse him this time. What
do I gain by abusing him in return ?” Slowly give up Abhimana (ego-centred
attachment). Abhimana is the root-cause of human sufferings.

Finally go to the thoughts and check the thought of injuring. Never even think of
injuring anyone. One Self dwells in all. All are manifestations of One God. By injuring
another, you injure your own Self. By serving another, you serve your own Self. Love all.
Serve all. Hate none. Insult none. Injure none in thought, word and deed. Try to behold
your own Self in all beings. This will promote Ahimsa.

    Why practice Ahimsa?

The power of Ahimsa is greater than the power of the intellect. It is easy
to develop the intellect, but it is difficult to purify and develop the heart. The
practice of Ahimsa develops the heart in a wonderful manner.

He who practices Ahimsa develops strong will-power. In his presence, enmity ceases. In
his presence, cobra and frog, cow and tiger, cat and rat, wolf and lamb, will all live
together in terms of intimate friendship. In his presence, all hostilities are given up.
The term ‘hostilities are given up’ means that all beings - men, animals, birds and
poisonous creatures will approach the practitioner without fear and do no harm to him.
Their hostile nature disappears in them in his presence. The rat and the cat, the snake
and the mongoose, and other beings that are enemies of each other by nature, give up their
hostile feelings in the presence of the Yogi who is established in Ahimsa. Lions and
tigers can never do any harm to such a Yogi. Such a Yogi can give definite orders to lion
and tigers. They will obey. This is Bhuta-Siddhi (mastery over the elements) obtainable by
the practice of Ahimsa. The practice of Ahimsa will eventually culminate in the
realization of unity and oneness of life, or Advaitic (non-dual) Consciousness. The Yogi
then enjoys the highest peace, bliss and immortality.

    Is ahimsa really “practicable”?

Absolute Ahimsa is impossible. It is not possible to the most
conscientious Sannyasin or monk. To practice that, you must avoid killing countless
creatures while walking, sitting, eating, breathing, sleeping and drinking. You cannot
find a single non-injurer in the world. You have to destroy life in order to live. It is
physically impossible for you to obey the law of non-destruction of life, because the
phagocytes of your blood also are destroying millions of dangerous intrusive spirilla,
bacteria and germs.

According to one school of thought, if by the murder of a dacoit many lives are saved,
it is not considered as Himsa. Ahimsa and Himsa are relative terms. Some say that one can
defend oneself with instruments and use a little violence also when one is in danger; this
is not considered to be Himsa. Westerners generally destroy their dear horses and dogs
when they are in acute agony and when there is no way of relieving their sufferings. They
wish that the soul should be immediately freed from the physical body. Motive is the chief
factor that underlies everything.

A renunciate or monk should not defend himself and use violence even when his life is
in jeopardy. To an ordinary man, Ahimsa should be the aim, but he will not fall from this
principle if, out of sheer necessity and with no selfish aim, he takes recourse to Himsa
occasionally. One should not give leniency to the mind in this respect. If you are
lenient, the mind will always take the best advantage of you and goad you to do acts of
violence. Give a rogue an inch, he will take an ell: the mind at once adapts this
policy, if you give a long rope for its movement.

Ahimsa is never a policy. It is a sublime virtue. It is the fundamental quality of
seekers after Truth. No Self-realization is possible without Ahimsa. It is through the
practice of Ahimsa alone that you can cognize and reach the Supreme Self or Brahman. Those
with whom it is a policy may fail many a time. They will be tempted to do violent acts
also. On the contrary, those who strictly adhere to the vow of Ahimsa as a sacred creed or
fundamentals cannon of Yoga, can never be duped into violence.

And finally, the Swami gives this message, which is the very same I wanted to share…

Ahimsa is a Mahavratam or “great universal vow”. It should be
practiced by all people of all countries. It does not concern the Hindus or Indians alone.
Whoever wishes to realize the Truth must practice Ahimsa. You may encounter any amount of
difficulties; you may sustain any amount of losses, but you must not give up the practice
of Ahimsa. Trial and difficulties are bound to come in your way to test your strength. You
should stand adamant. Then alone will your efforts be crowned with sanguine success.

There is a hidden power in Ahimsa which protects its practitioners. The invisible hand
of God gives protection. There is no fear. What can pistols and swords do ?

Even now there are people who do not give the least pain to any living creature. They
carry sugar and rice for distribution to ants in their holes. They do not use lights at
night for fear of killing the small insects. They are very careful while walking in the
streets, as they do not wish to trample upon small insects.

Blessed are these men. They will soon see God as they have very soft hearts.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, let us join hands to practice, promote and develop ahimsa. The words above are the words of wise men. Let us follow their words, and let us make this world a better place!

Smiles…

Hey all,
Today, as I was emersed in the boring theories of extra boring Physics, I came across a pretty interesting thought… It was about the meaning conveyed in a smile:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

A simple movement of the lip muscles… A simple greeting conveyed; a signature of friendship; a mark of acquaintance; an essay of meaning; anything from a mark of friendship, to an ocean of expression.

Its true, smile and the world smiles at you :) This same smile can be used as a means of peace. As a way of marking your friendship, as a bonding of guests, as a reuniting of enemies… A simple gesture which can be used to spread universal brotherhood and world peace… A gesture of goodwill, loads of “yin” and other forms of positive energy. :)

There was a friend of mine who kept scribbling all over “Smile smile smile”. At that time, I thought she was just a big fat showoff, but now I realize that she was far from it! Now I appreciatively peer at the cards she had distributed when she left, and nod at the small quote which said “open with a smile :)”.

So, what IS the reason for me thinking up all these when I’m actually supposed to be studying? Simple. I got bored, and I was yet again checking out the school magazine (which I made) and I came across an article written by a junior of mine. At the time she handed it over, we used it to make fun of her and tease her, but now when looked at with a more serious attitude, I think that we should have encouraged her to write more. Ofcourse, she might not have dreamed of the more philosophical implications of what she had composed, but then, “accidental philosophy” shall we say?

Smiles

Smiling is infectious; you can catch it like a flu,
When someone smiled at me, I started smiling too!
When I passed the corner, someone saw my grin,
When he smiled, I realized I passed it onto him!

I thought about that smile, and realized its worth,
A single smile like mine, would travel around the earth!
So if you feel a smile begin, don’t leave it undetected,
Lets start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected!

                                      - A. J. [name withheld for privacy reasons]

[this poem is copyrighted by The Udyogamandal School Editorial Board]

So what do you think? This little piece of literature is not exactly what I would call sensational, but its “cute”. :) I like the thought… Smiling infectious… Lol… Especially when its used against boys by cute girls :D

Oh, the poet here is talking about herself smiling at her brother, and her brother smiling back, so please dont run away with false implications either :D

Anyway, back to the subject at hand, smiling DOES seem to be quite infectious :) And what I would like to focus on is the line “A single smile like mine, would travel around the earth!”. A single smile could travel around the earth, and can you imagine how much peace it would cause? Its such a wonderful thought isnt it? :)

Simple and sweet. Keep smiling :) Spread the smiles :) Lets join those smiles, and make this world a better place :)

So ladies and gentlemen, cutting it short here, ‘coz time is short, and exams are near, so time is directly proportional to marks :) Keeeeeeeeeeeeeep smiling…. (CAUTION : Dont keep smiling 24X7… You might end up in an asylum :D )

Ten commadments for optimum living

Hey all,
First of all, sorry for the long gap between posts. I was out of station :)

Anyway, I found this little thing in a site named “Point of Life” maintained by Author, Philosopher and Lecturer, Michael Levy. The site itself is pretty pointless other than this piece of advice, since it caters to publicity and sales for Michael Levy’s books.

    Check it out…

    Not bad is it? :)
    Cheers for now…

What does it mean to succeed?

Hey all,
I found this quote in a blog. I recently came across this blog, and havnt yet got time to go through it fully. But this quote was a long term favourite of mine, and it brought back memories…

(”Succeed” by
Jean-Antoine Watteau)

This quote focuses on what it is to succeed…

To Laugh often and much, to win the respect of
intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the
appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false
friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the
world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a
redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived. THIS IS TO HAVE SUCCEEDED.

—- Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-82)

Yep. By Ralph Emerson, and full of meaning. Its very much similar to the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling which I had posted earlier. Beautiful :)

Attitude is every thing…

Hi all,
A few months back, I received an email forward from one of the persons I trust the most on this planet. It went on to say the importance of attitude…

An old man lived alone in Minnesota. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son,who would have helped him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation:
——————————————
Dear Son,
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won’t be able to plant my potato garden this year. I hate to misdoing the garden, because your mother always loved planting time. I’m just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot.If you were here, all my troubles would be over.

I know you would dig the plot, for me if you weren’t in the prison.
Love,
Dad
——————————————

Shortly ,the old man received this telegram:

——————————————
“For Heaven’s sake, Dad, don’t dig up the garden !!That’s where I buried the GUNS!!”
——————————————

At 4 a.m.the next morning, a dozen FBI agents and local police officers showed up and dug up the entire garden without finding any guns.
Confused, the old man wrote another note to his son telling him what happened and asked him what to do next.
His son’s reply was:

——————————————
“Go ahead and plant your potatoes, Dad It’s the best I could do for you from here.”
——————————————

NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN THE WORLD, IF YOU HAVE DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING DEEP FROM YOUR HEART, YOU CAN DO IT,. IT IS THE THOUGHT THAT MATTERS NOT WHERE YOU ARE.

Attitude is Everything……

Indeed a wise message! Attitude is everything!

So if a son in jail could dig up his fathers farm, why cant people like you and me help stop war? The answer is, YES WE CAN! Buddha wanted to be enlightened, and he wanted to spread peace, he had the right attitude, and acheived his aim! Gandhiji wanted to stop war, and spread peace, he had the right attitude, and he spread peace over two continents! So if YOU want to spread peace, YOU CAN!

What provoked me to post about attitude right now, right here, is a bunch of so called “geeks” from a stupid blog. The blog specialized in critisizing other blogs, and calling themselves “supreme” while they were what they were - low down and stinking. Ofcourse, they had a cult with them. The so called cult which calls themselves “geeks” from another universe with the “best blogs on earth” to be a model for other “weaklings”.

These people happened to visit BlogForPeace, and they were laughing, CORRECTION, laughing at, the site, the organization, the supporters, and the readers of this blog. Why? They say that this is absolute stupidity, and that no one can do anything at all. They said that I’m mad, and that I’m just a fool with another of those “save the world” idiosyncrasies.

Maybe all that is true, but then what they said about “couldn’t save the world” is absolute bull****! Its all in the attitude. If you believe that you can stop war, you CAN stop war! If you believe that you can create peace, you CAN create peace. Whatever other people say, whatever other people might opinion, its YOUR belief which counts, and finally, it is YOU who WILL make a difference, provided you have the right attitude!

So believe in yourself, get a proper attitude, and there lies open a limitless ocean of oppurtunities and stakes. Adios dear readers, until next time, keep beleiving…

An article on Backward Philosophy…

Hey all,
I think I flunked my Maths exam today :D Lol… Chemistry tomorrow. I got extremely fuzzed out with all those organic polymers, that I thought I would just check out my blog :)

I don’t know how many of you know about Ranya, she’s a new reader of mine, and has commented a couple of times. I drifted towards her site today, and found it quite interesting, though very popular yet :) Oh, if you havn’t guessed already, this is another post for my Race Against Racism Blogathon

I found one of her articles quite thought provoking. Its titled “Backward Philosohpy : A few questions“. She has asked a few very thought provoking questions. I would request each of you to read the article, and then, read the rest of my post.

What if others accused USA for the world’s safety and peaceful state?

What if others decided to stop the US production of mass desctructing weapons, and “liberate” the states?

What if others started bombing the states, murdering it’s nations, wrongly accusing innocents of terrorism and terrorist acts?

What if peaceful and lovely US homes were burned to ruins?

What if US children were left orphans on the streets with nowhere to turn to, but a dark and hopeless future?

What if safety was the new word for war and vice versa?

What if innocents were being abused, raped, heartlessly
tortured and humiliated for nothing but mere entertainment of the
hearts of hatred?

What if mothers lost their sons? And families torn apart?

What if there was no hope? And life seemed like hell itself?

What if the US resources were being controlled and managed by some military forces of these so-called others?

What if people couldn’t tell life and death apart.. anymore?

What if you were being told big lies about a liberated and freedom-filled future, bright and peaceful?

There is a saying that goes something like: Be the change
you want the world to be. Really, what does war really lead to, except
for more war? What does cruelty do except for serving the paths of more
cruelty? Ask yourself, and answer as honestly as you can, has the Iraq
war really helped for the world peace and safety? Has it, by any means,
decreased terrorism on worldly basis? Has it? I really would like to
know.

These are the questions she has asked. I don’t agree with her though. It just isn’t fair to ask all these questions, for a lot of reasons. For one thing, USA IS the world No.1 country right now, no doubts about that. Throughout history, we can see the “survival of the fittest” rule in action. So if a country needs to survive, it needs to adopt such die-hard tactics.

Also, what wrong have the American PEOPLE done towards Iraq? Its mainly just stupid politics by the one and only Bush… By killing innocent Americans, can a person get revenge on USA’s President? All he cares about is getting votes, and more votes, and even more votes. If American people are killed, if American mothers are childrenless, if the peaceful and lovely US homes were burned to ruins, WHAT GOOD WOULD IT DO FOR PEACE?

Dear friends, fight not fire, with fire. Douse it with water… Ahimsa, nonviolence, is the only way for and of peace. Mahatma Gandhi, was a truly great man!

Anyway, Tanya has done a good job with the article and has ended it off beautifully, but she needs to consider another angle as well :)

By the way, not to make a too fine point of it, but still, she asked -

What if innocents were being abused, raped, heartlessly
tortured and humiliated for nothing but mere entertainment of the
hearts of hatred?

    Uh, aren’t they already doing that? :D :D :D

Lol… No offence meant here to any community, these are just my views and opinions, open for criticism, or like I said before, open to be viewed at another angle. I’m quite interested in hearing your say :) So please do drop in your comments via the Comments(below each post) or privately via email. :)

Cheers for now, and let me get on with those damned polymers :)

RACE AGAINST RACISM : US Soldier teasing Iraqi kids!!

Hello all,

Inspite of my exams, I was browsing through a few racism related sites, when I found this video!

The video was quite brutal! It chilled me from head to toe! It is a video of a US soldier teasing Iraqi kids with a bottle of pure drinking water! He makes the kids run for a long time, before he gave them the water!

So dear reader? What do you think? Now do you think that my cause is justified? Lets Race Against Racism! If you know about any website, or a blog, or a post, which you felt as good, and worth a read, send it to me [coolmohan AT gmail DOT com] or post the URL as a comment, and I’ll publish it in BlogForPeace…
