Me, Maths, CSA and more…
Hi all,
I had a truly out of the world experience yesterday. I had volunteered for the CSA, Center for Social Action, at Christ College, and I had joined the wing of CSA named Activity Center, which took classes for students from a slum area called Rajendranagar. The Activity Center head asked me if I wanted to join them yesterday, even before the official CSA inauguration on the 7th.
At Rajendranagar, we were greeted by eager kids shaking hands and saying “hello”s is several dialects. They were a bit apprehensive about approaching me, maybe because I was new, but we got on ok… I went with 2 Activity Center members, the Activity Center head Swathi, and another member, Vandana.
I was assigned to take Maths for the 8th grade students…
And there the story starts. Many students didnt even know the basic principles of multiplication and division. Everyone kept calling me “sir”
And they were like so enthusiastic with my presence, though I should say that at the end of the one and half hour session, I didn’t have kids hanging onto my hands, unlike my co-activists’ experiences. I succeeded in teaching a few the principles, and making everyone very Mathusiastic
The smiles on their faces when they got the solution to a problem, or when they did a few sums even faster than I did were sights I would never forget in my entire life. And when the time came for me to leave, a few of them did escort me down the stairs till the road. All of them said passionate “bye”s, though they didnt treat me to the traditional Rajendranagar hand shake.
And I left, walking through the broken streets with my counterparts, I had this unexplainable feeling… A mix of happiness, empathy, and enthusiasm. I was happy that they accepted me. I was happy that whatever little I did DID make a difference. I understood their situation and wanted to help in whatever way possible. And enthusiastic to be back and make more of that special difference!
Today, when I submitted my report, a CSA activist asked me about my experience. I told her that I had a “wonderful experience”. She asked me if I was being sarcastic. I gave her a quick smile, and my heart was grinning… Because little did she know how much my heart was willing to go to Rajendranagar every day; how much I would love to do this for the larger part of the day; how much I was looking forward to the next Thursday… the next Maths class… the next difference…
Remember what I said about attitude? Here’s a cool example…
Hey all,
Do you guys remember what I said about “attitude” a couple of weeks back? (I know you dont, but I live my life believing that my articles are admired and memorised by a big bunch of readers, so dont hurt my ego, please dig up that article using the Search feature, or Digg up that article using digg.com, and continue reading this…)

Anyway… Once upon a time, uh, I mean, 2 years back, I had a senior. She, yes its a girl(duh!), was a very intelligent, witty, *short* gal whom everyone adored, but also teased due to her *height* which stopped a half inch to five foot
I remember her as what we call a “book-worm” or a “studious geek”. Ofcourse, juniors always form extremely puffed up images of seniors which may be entirely untrue (for example, a few of MY juniors keep saying that I’m “cool”).
While I was browsing through the vast expanses of the internet today, I came across her blog, and she had this interesting post(yes, all this blabber was just an introduction to her post, this IS a PEACE blog - I can’t just say “Here’s a cool post” - I need to find a hidden moral
). The post went on to say about those things about herself that she was “definitely proud of“, but the list included her strengths as well as her infirmities. It went on like this -
1.My height
Vertically challenged that i am, i epitomise the fact that ” sweet things definitely come in small packages”2.My smile
Warm, genuine and worth a million dollars. I manage to show ” 64 teeth in one go”3.My haircut
The IN thing in fashion world, i spent 120 bucks for a hair cut that makes me” look like hutch puppie’s twin” with my hair open.4.My Voice
Husky, “sexy” and different. I possess the unique ability to ” sound like a guy over the phone”5,My music skills
” Would beat norah jones at the grammys”. they said it rite, I ROCK7.My math
you just can’t beat me at it. Oops!! did i just count six on my fingers??8.My sense of humour
Goofy, campy and clever. I am the ” queen of PJs”9.My friends
Wonderful, wise and wacky . My biggest asset and the bestest assortment you can possibly come across.10.My family
Supportive, caring and the best ever. Love you loadsFootnote:
I know the article is sweet. Told you anything small is.Toenote:
you gotta know me well to appreciate the article. Sincere heartfelt apologies to all those fans who haven’t met me yet.Nailnote:
For the ignorant, anything within quotes are utterances by great men and women
Now thats what I call attitude :). Here’s a person who is ready for the “people ready” world ;). Be proud of whatever you are! Be proud of your strengths! Be proud of your weaknesses as well! Because there is no positive without a negative. Nature loves symmetry. Did scientists ignore electrons because they had a negative charge, and look at only the positive protons? Nope. And now, because they did not ignore electrons, we have an array theories and applications, which makes life a lot more interesting, simpler, and understandable.

Philosophers may say, “Look at the positive side”. I don’t. When approached by an adverse situation, I think, “How can I approach this and conquer this? Through its positive effect or negative effect?”. In certain cases, your weaknesses turn into strengths. In certain cases, come to think about it, your negatives turn positives. And like Stephen Hawkings, you might discover that the negatives are absorbed by the good ol’ black hole, leaving only positives (Theory of entropy of Black Holes - explosion of Black Holes)…

Check :). And yes, I’m checking my post here as well. I have a fat lot more of Biology to complete before my final exam on Wednesday… So caio! Azeera chechi, if you’re reading this, thanks for yet another object to write on
P.S: Big news coming tomorrow (If I risk it online…) A sister site to be launched
Stay tuned

“Fatwa against Vande Mataram” A report…
Friends, Webizens, Countrymen…
Now, the Indian Muslim Chiefs have gone TOO far! I was never in favour of their policies or stands on different issues. But, since my relegion teaches relegious tolerence, I tried to accomodate them. They started off with raising the issue of Tennis star Sania Mirza wearing miniskirts while playing tennis!!! Yeesh! What else should she wear? A sari?
Now, they are out to prove they are not even Indian! They have issued a fatwa(a relegious rule) against the reciting of Vande Mataram!!!!
This National Song of India, by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, is sung by all, and is enjoyed. The verses form beautiful couplets on nature, freedom, and beauty. The utopian muslim leaders are saying that the lines portray against their relegion (I say BULLS**T!)

Even THINKING of such a thing should result in the SOB muslim leader being beheaded. And they have gone even more far! They went on to order muslim parents NOT to send their children to a school where Vande Mataram was sung! To betray the country is one thing, but denying basic education is a crime by itself, mentioned in the Constitution.

Rich with thy hurrying streams,
bright with orchard gleams,
Cool with thy winds of delight,
Dark fields waving Mother of might,
Mother free.
Glory of moonlight dreams,
Over thy branches and lordly streams,
Clad in thy blossoming trees,
Mother, giver of ease
Laughing low and sweet!
Mother I kiss thy feet,
Speaker sweet and low!
Mother, to thee I bow.
Who hath said thou art weak in thy lands
When the sword flesh out in the seventy million hands
And seventy million voices roar
Thy dreadful name from shore to shore?
With many strengths who art mighty and stored,
To thee I call Mother and Lord!
Though who savest, arise and save!
To her I cry who ever her foeman drove
Back from plain and Sea
And shook herself free.
Thou art wisdom, thou art law,
Thou art heart, our soul, our breath
Though art love divine, the awe
In our hearts that conquers death.
Thine the strength that nervs the arm,
Thine the beauty, thine the charm.
Every image made divine
In our temples is but thine.
Thou art Durga, Lady and Queen,
With her hands that strike and her
swords of sheen,
Thou art Lakshmi lotus-throned,
And the Muse a hundred-toned,
Pure and perfect without peer,
Mother lend thine ear,
Rich with thy hurrying streams,
Bright with thy orchard gleems,
Dark of hue O candid-fair
In thy soul, with jewelled hair
And thy glorious smile divine,
Lovilest of all earthly lands,
Showering wealth from well-stored hands!
Mother, mother mine!
Mother sweet, I bow to thee,Mother great and free!
Thats the Vande Mataram. But I cant see what is outrightly troubling the muslim clerics.
The controversy with the National Song is not new. Even progressive Muslims feel that the words Vande Mataram are against the teachings of Islam where Allah is supreme and no one else, not even the Motherland. : CNN
You gotta be kidding me!!! They are denying poor kids their basic education because they BELIEVE that Allah said that He was the supreme God! How C-R-A-Z-Y can you get? Puh-leeze! Did Krishna ever say “Worship me! I’m the greatest!”? Did Jesus ever decalre “Do not worship anyone else! I’m the best!” ? Did Buddha ever pronounce “Nobody else is better than me! I’m the best! I’m the best!” ?
Similarly, I believe that Allah NEVER said such a thing. I believe that this is all made up bullsh*t, just to earn a quick penny, by declaring to other countries that India is imposing laws on them! I believe that such asses of the community should be kicked out of the country, so that India improves. These goddamn asses are the only reason why India is not developing as fast as it should! Begone dirty muslim clerics! Let the people live in peace! Let the muslims be free of your fu**ass attitude!
Is India really independant? NO! Its constrained by these idiots, and bigger idiots named politicians! Join hands people! We need peace, not war!!!!

The five “C”s to peace…
Hello all,
Today, I have decided to post another article… The idea for this one emerged in my mind when I was browsing through another peace site, so I give all credits to learningpeace.com , which is also a informative site, that I reccomend every peace activist to read.
The 5 “C“s to World Peace…
The 3 “R”s to reducing pollution - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Similarly, Peace also has a few alphabetsBut in this case, its not an “R”, but a “C”, and there are 5, not 3
![]()
Communication, Compromise, Contribution, Commitment and Cooperation
The first buzzword, is communication. Communication leads to friendship, and friendship leads to peace. After all, can you imagine killing your best friend? For those of who thought “Yes”, please read the other 4 too! Or else….![]()
Through communication, frienship, and friendly bonds can be created. But to retain these bonds, there should be compomise. Forgive, and forget. Compromise for minor issues, why fight over something baseless? After all, as Harold Kushner said,
“The small choices and decisions we make a hundred times a day add up to determining the kind of world we live in.”Now, you have your friends, and you have the keyword(”compromise!”) to help retain the friendship… But why should your friends be your friends? You need to contribute something to the community, to make yourself a positive target for friendship. And in this case, the message of peace should be the best thing to contribute. Teach, advocate, practice, peace.
But please note that contribution does not mean material gifts. Don’t come to me later, whining that you contributed a bottle of red wine to all your friend, and your friendship didn’t work out!
![]()
In whatever unmaterialistic thing you contribute (alcohol does NOT count as unmaterialistic!!!
) you need to show commitment. By commitment, a true interest in what you’re doing, you can make dreams come true! When you show commitment in your proceedings, you earn a respect among people, thus again, bringing you more friends, and as a result, more peace
.
Aaaaaaand…. The final buzzword… Co-operation. Absolute co-operation with your friends, families and foes(*aha!*), is required for Peace. Be like Bush and Hussein, and I gaurentee you, you’re not going to get anywhere near peace!
![]()
So ladies and gentlemen… Remember the five “C”s : Communicate to make friends, compromise and contribute to keep them, show your commitment to the society, and co-operate with all…
Dear beloved reader, thats all for today
And to all my Malayalee friends, happy Vishu (Malayalam new year)

Today, I decided to unleash the Blog For Peace Petetion! The whole reason this site is online! Those of you who had read our first ever post will remember that we intended to spread world peace by getting more people to join our cause. Well, this petetion is the backbone of the movement.
Its initial stage has been launched as is availble by clicking here. In its initial stage, we will check if people are truly interested. It operates by sending the petetion to the President of India, His excellency Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, on receiving the initial count of 15,000 signatures. On his approval, it will be launched in a bigger scale, addressed to the world
To view our aims, and to view the petetion, keep reading…
Our World is in Peril!
- By environmental pollution
- By useless wars
- By poverty
- By self centered selfishness
Is there a way to overcome these perils? Is there a way to fight against them? If there is a way, then could you envelope this method with open hands?
Yes? Then here’s your chance!
This is a petetion, for the well being of Earth, and its inhabitants.
This is a petetion based on brotherhood, sustainable development,
charity and above all peace! We aim to -
- Bring World Peace

- To vote against war
- To promote Peace
- To stop all personal fueds, thereby promoting personal peace
- To advocate sustainable development, and basic human humanity
- To reduce, if possible, eliminate, selfishness
Imagine… If
George W. Bush and Saddam Hussein, both sign this petetion, the US-Iraq
war will never occur again! If Gen. Pervez Musharaff and Dr. A P J
Abdul Kalam sign this petetion, there would never again be a Indo-Pak
war! Isn’t that worth fighting for? Isn’t that worth signing for?A world without war… A world without extreme selfishness… A world that God envisioned when he created man…
This
petetion, on reaching its target, will be sent to the Hon. President of
India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, for his note of approval, and thereby,
taking the movement into a higher scale.Sponsered by www.blogforpeace.org

Poem : A seed left, planted by AB
Hey all,
Heres a beautiful poem submitted by one of my regular readers nicknamed Angery Butterfly. It felt very soothing, and tragic all the same
A Seed Left Planted by AB
When I go back, and view, my life,
I hope that it will read,
like this poem I leave behind,
Like a musterd seed,This person loved to live,
And lived to love and pray,
She dreamed of peace for everyone,
And of a better day,Were wars were never waged,
And Mothers never cried,
Were babys didn’t starve to death,
In hunger left to die,Were brothers didn’t kill, there brothers,
And never beat there wives,
Were people found simple ways,
To fufill and love there lives,Were all the creatures had respect,
Each found there place on earth,
Were children grew to love themselfs,
Knowing of there worth,And if I died tommarrow,
I hope someone would say,
She shared her dreams with others,
And helped me find my way.
Hope you enjoyed that one folks! I sure did! Special thanks to Angery Butterfly
Adios Amigos until the next post!
